C4 Lo-Pro Bumper light-bar options

I am going to be ordering a new C4 Lo-Pro bumper in the next few days. Has anyone compared the output and performance between the two light-bars options that C4 offers for their LoPro bumpers? (Baja Designs S8 30", and Extreme LED X6S 30")

I know there is a huge price delta between the two, but is it worth it? Is the Baja Designs S8 that much better for that particular application? I will be using a full amber light-bar in the bumper, and it will be my primary source of amber light.

Are there other any options that should be seriously considered?

I haven't compared the 2. But, the Baja is rated for significantly higher output. It's probably worth the money if you really want the best option.

I have a Rigid 20" bar and ditch lights, and they practically turn night into day!

It seems BD and Rigid are tops for bars and pods, but for fogs the Diode Dynamics SS3 are the way to go.

 

I've been having the same dilemma and Ive talked with folks at c4 and Sherpa about the differences. The BD does have a higher output and a better IP (waterproof and sealing rating), the housing is significantly higher quality material. Having said that both c4 and Sherpa folks felt the Extreme LED is really good for the price point. One of them said "in all honesty you would likely never know the difference unless you had them side by side in terms of output". If you can afford the BD its the BEST but the Extreme will absolutely get the job done and has dual mode (amber and white) right out of the package.

I emailed the company and was told their yellow light is at 3000K.

 

I have had both. I run mainly BDs now with the exception of the 25" ExtremeLed X6S in all amber. Output on the BDs is significantly better imo and much more crisp as the Extremes were also too blue for my liking. I know BDs are expensive but I would email them to see if they still offer scratch and dent units (how i got my 40" and 30"). We have compared my BDs to my buddies Amazon LEDs and the BDs were brighter and threw light further down, but i understand to some that performance doesnt warrent the huge price difference. Will ExtremeLEDs get the job done, of course, but i personally prefer a discounted or even used set of BDs over the ExtremeLEDs

One other note, BDs customer service is top notch. They replaced faded amber lenses and anodized faces without hesitation. With that being said, I havent had to deal with ExtremeLEDs

 

Just get the extreme. That’s what I ran on my lo pro and now my full. More than sufficient unless you have a $300,000 Baja build

 

Thanks guys. Was just curious if there were other options to run. I saw some with diode dynamics, rigid, and Lasfit in their bumpers so I figured I would ask I one location.

 

I think the question really comes down to if you’re really going to use them to justify the costs of the more expensive brands. Unless you have money to blow like that…I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with whatever you get. Maybe the money saved on lights can fund another upgrade , project, or hobby lol

This is definitely worth considering. A lot of people are satisfied with Amazon light bars.

But, if money isn't a concern, or reliability is important, spend the money.

SS3 fogs are high on my "to do" list.

Also, I have the DD SS3 Pro fogs in white and they are absolutely amazing. It’s actually hard to drive without them now! I really love them!

 

Since we're talking about light bars...Are these two (Baja and Extreme) flood lights, or spots/driving lights? It's the one thing I miss on my 4R since moving away from the Jeep. I had a pair of og Hella Rallye 4000's that were great for the desert at night. Nice long throw. No place to mount them on the 4R. Thinking about the C4 bumper and a light bar.

 

Most bars have options for flood, driving, spot, and sometimes a combination. It looks like the BD is available in 4 patterns/options.

I have a spot/driving combination 20 Rigid in my bumper and it's great for night time shenanigans!

 

Nice! That's what I was hoping for. Much as I like the look of old school huge round lights, the LED light bars fit in with the truck better.

 

Definitely save your coin and go with extreme unless you're a power user and need those extra lumens. Invest that savings back into the truck with armor, winch, recovery gear, comms etc.

 

Tried the SS30 from Diode Dynamics. Could not get the brackets to fit correctly. Any help? Anyone else get this to work?

 

What issue are you having?

I had trouble with my SOS bumper and a Rigid SR 20" where the brackets are too close together. I hammered them until I could get the light bar in, but it's still not all the way in.

 

The brackets just don't seem to fit properly as the light bar is off-centered from the cutout. Appreciate your help.

 

I may end up returning the Ss30 from DD and just getting the S6 cheap one so that it fits.

 

My suggestion is find a way to make the one you want work. You definitely don’t want to walk out to your ride everyday thinking about how this lightbar just doesn’t fit. You spent too much money for the bumper and everything else not to have it the way you really want it!

Even if you have to take it to a shop and pay a little extra right now, it will be worth it!

 

Great point. I may seem if I can find someone around here in Dallas who can fabricate a proper bracket for it to work well. Appreciate your insights. Would that be a metal shop?

 

It might be worth trying to find an off-road shop that does fabrication.

Our S8 light will work great in the C4 bumpers. The OnX light bar may be to big for some front bumper cut outs so keep that in mind. What are you looking for in your lighting upgrade? Are you going to be using it more for off-road or on-road driving?
