What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I did something similar to my Golf R after a few guys took a rock to either their radiator, or the oil and trans coolers on the sides. The ONLY downside is when travelling through a state that has a lot of bug, like say montana...

that's going to be a fun car wash lol..that did cross my mind but better on the grill than all over the inside..

 

Oh yeah, that car wash was brutal, I think it took me 90 minutes just to do the front bumper and hood. But I did find a spot where a rock put a small dent in my metal grill, so it did its job and saved my oil cooler.

 

I did a drive through N. Dakota during the nightly grasshopper orgies. I know all about the baked-on fuggers. Took me about 90 mins to do just the front, too. The radiator was also full of 'em. That took a good while to clean, too. Power washer to the rescue.

 

These wheels are starting to grow on me as well. I was close to selling them and even placed an order for a new set of KMCs that I canceled soon after. I might just get them powder coated and be done with the wheel search.

 

Installed the AMD/Old Red Harness mod today. Old Red is a genius!

 

Whoaaa details. This work on a 2021 pro?

 

I don't think so? I want to say it only works on specific models 2019 and back.

 

Maybe my one and only (famous last words) mod. N-Fab Predator Pro nerf bar/steps. Major difference for a 65 year old 5’ 6" guy. 20 minute install. Pictures aren’t the best.

 

Installed window visors today and received my TRD SEMA wheels from UPS. Made my appointment for installation tomorrow. My heritage grill is also arriving on Thursday. Bought my 4Runner about ten days ago, and plasti dipped the emblems right away. I don’t even have my plates yet and am driving around on temp tags.

Nothing crazy but I got my 4runner aligned today after installing the lift. I will say the jba uca are everything they are cracked up to be. And the shop that performed the alignment, turned out to be a great shop with awesome equipment and techs! For anyone in the central pa area, iron valley offroad and customs check them out.

Now that my suspension settled a little, I love the stance!

I'm about to do my first real mod, 2-1 lift and some new wheels. My issue has been finding reference pics for the offset on the wheels I'm looking at, they're -25. I'll try to attach a pic, but essentially I found a calculator that I plugged the stock Trail/TRD OR wheel specs into and the new specs. It says that -25 will extend the outside edge of my wheel 53mm/2.08in. I measured it, and if it's correct it will give me a nice, but not not to extreme wheel/tire poke out beyond the fenders, which is what I want.

I'd like to know if everything looks right with the math, specs, and calculator so I can start buying stuff.

 

Added Cornfed 3/4” front leveling spacer. No more rake. Very happy with it.

 

Well what size tires do you want to put on? Wider tires provides extra poke.

i have -12mm offset and it gives just the right amount of poke with 285’s. I get dirt and mudd up the side of my rig pretty good. I wouldn’t want it anymore than -12mm.



case and point… this is not after going off-roading (unless you want to count driving through my yard a couple of times)…

 

I'm on 265 Wildpeaks now, unless I get a big "skipped leg day" vibe after the lift I'll either stick with 265's or maybe step up to 275's.

I figure if I go to 285's, I'm only really getting about 1 inch height and width more from a 265. I'm just not sure if trimming stuff is worth the inch in the long run.

 

Math looks good but with that much negative offset you're probably going to have rubbing.

 

Would it be rubbing of I stick with the 265's?

If I have to trim it's not a big deal cause personally, I like the aesthetics of a bigger poke out. Plus if I'm forced to do it because of offset alone, then the issue of the in difference of the tire size is moot, and jumping to 285's would be on the list after the 265's need replaced.

 

I think that the Wildpeaks are pretty well known for rubbing with 265s even on a 0 offset wheel. It has to do with how wide the tread is on that tire compared to some others.

 

not the coolest mod in the book but I installed the garmin dash cam mini 2, using the dongar adapter..arrived yestereday and it was a really easy install and again whoever shared the dongar adapter on here, thanks again!

stock off road wheels and 265 wildpeaks no rubbing at all.

 

The stock wheels have +15 offset so they usually work.

 

Which adapter did you use?

 

You will definitely rub with 265's and a -25 offset. It's all fixable though.
