Somehow the USCCA popped up in my Youtube algorithm and I've been watching some of their stuff. Most videos are pretty short. Unlike most gun / tactics channels / sites, they don't interject a lot of politics into the content, which I appreciate. They have some good one-on-ones with a defense attorney where they ask questions as they pertain to self-defense scenarios and the like. I haven't really learned anything significant per se (no arrogance intended, I just have a lot of experience in the field) but I have come away from most of the videos thinking "this is the sort of thing a regular ol' gun owner who wants to do the right thing but isn't really sure about legal issues should be watching".

I understand your thinking, however, my thoughts are that I would rather be ALIVE to defend my actions.

Yikes! indeed and that's just on the criminal side. The civil side, depending on where you live, could be worse. Each person must come to their own decision as to go armed or not, but I will echo what suaveflooder said. It's either or, no sometimes. "Sometimes" can be used against you in court by a good prosecutor.

I don’t know why you guys are still carrying them at all. We used flex cuffs in Afghanistan and Iraq, never had a single escape. When we ran out of the fancy one handed push-pull flex cuffs we used a pair of the big fat regular zipties - never had an escape. I carried 1 or 2 on the leg strap of my holster and 5 or 6 more stuck in the molle web of my body armor. When stuff gets real squiggly you can zip a bunch of them together and everybody remains in place as long as you need them to.

Interesting thread but I’m gonna bow out. This just isn’t my jam.

Thank you for answering my questions. I will be remaining gunless. :)

We shoot a ton. Run drills, (at dark as well with nvgs') and take out people that wanna learn. Bunch of us zoom out west/desert, and larp when ever we can. Happy shooting/learning/growing all.

You guys probably didn't detain people briefly. Cops do. It'd be much more cumbersome to zip tie a guy for a three minute FI and search, and then have to cut him free. You can also apply cuffs with one hand; zips you cannot easily. Cuffs are easier to snap on to a combative suspect, zips are harder.

Agree. As I said back on page 1, pick the tool for the task at hand. BTW, when I fly and can’t take handcuffs or long zip ties in my carryon, I carry a roll of duct tape. Thankfully, I’ve never had to use it but if I did it would be very effective in securing someone both on the floor and in their seat. And a piece over their mouth for good measure. Never had it questioned going through security.

There are many other facets to shooting besides self-defense. Competitions of all types. Ballistic Science that one can spend their entire life in the study of and not learn everything. Some people golf, or bowl, I really enjoy bench rest shooting.

Yes, we hardly ever had only one individual to detain as well. Lots of different rules apply differently in a combat zone too.
It would be a whole lot easier to secure a puc if it wasn’t illegal to soften em up a little with the asp first. Gotta have the right tool for the job, Beavis. :notsure:

This is old, but, its just a CZ pcr, AIWB holster. Zero anything, just slides in and out. Ive gotten a few more in the carry rotation, but every one i have (IWB holsters) all fit just like this. With mrd cut or weapon light. Cheers

Within the context of a courtroom and you're being questioned for discharging your weapon to defend yourself, the prosecutor might ask questions like:
    • If you're only carrying 'sometimes', what made this time different?
    • Were you looking for a fight?
    • If you were carrying because it felt less safe, why did you go there in the first place?
    • etc
I don't pretend to be LEO; I'm sure there are others on this thread with better perspectives on this than me.

wsu_runner is spot on. Can't remember the DGU but there some Domestic stuff tied in, I'm not going look it up. Anyway, guy was questioned by prosecutor and asked to describe the day of incident starting when he woke up. Basically guy said I put my gun on every day as routine and family member who was very credible disputed that..yada yada. Then what wsu_runner has exampled kicked in during questioning.

Edit: It depends on the prosecutor if they go that direction or not.

I bought the large model from Home Depot online of all places about three years ago. It works, in that someone will have to break in, open back and cut it out. Prying open is an option but it's going to take longer than just a snatch and run.
I can post a picture of it in my runner if you want. Truck Vault and the other major players are too expensive for me to justify. Usually I have my Ruger PCC back there, not an AR.

I’m having one made at a local welding shop. As mentioned, I don’t need a safe, just a place to securely store my long gun (shotgun or rifle) out of sight while I’m away from my truck. I don’t intend to leave it in there overnight in my driveway but may travel with it in which case I will keep it with me at night. I’ll use pick and pluck foam inside and a key lock. The shop is going to powder coat it. If I didn’t have a good friend who owns the business I would reach out to a local high school welding program. They might need a project and I have used my local high school for other, unrelated stuff like plastics with great success.

That sucks. What a shit hole. What sucks worse, is all you (Not you specifically) Cali people running from your self made disaster, flooding into other states, and then ruining that state with the bullshit. That, is what is really sad.
