Suspension Help.

So if the bilstein 5100 or eibach are set at the lowest notch, paired with dobinson 1.75" and 1" coils or paired with t1 and t13, what would you pick? Also jba uca will be added to the mix

My truck is on the road 95% of the time. I'm looking to get rid of the nose drive and body roll. But still keep a smooth ride

I want to do right and do it once.

On my 2016 runner new I had a nose dive when using the brakes. the springs front had the driver side a bit lower because of the gas tank on driver side.
#1 I did the brake fluid to see if the fluid had air in it . the rear brake caliper had air in the fluid.then the runner works a bit better on a dip to use the brakes.

then #2 I used a coil spring spacer on the bottom of the front coils ..use 1 inch spacers.. lifted the runner about one inch .. then the runner works very good with not much dipping ..

 

My recommendation is to get the Eibach shocks and use your stock coils. Put the setting on the 1.6" up front. Get a spacer for the rear. Forget the UCA's. You won't need them with that low of a lift up front.

The valving of the Eibachs paired with the stock coils gets rid of a lot of the nose dive and sway, but maintains a smooth ride.

If you were to get aftermarket coils, they will certainly be a higher spring rate which could potentially hinder that smooth ride.

But ride is subjective, so do what feels right to you.

 

But won't the eibach be a little more firm when preloading the strut? Apposed to have them set at 0 and long coils? From what I was reading the dobinson coil springs rates are just a little higher than the factory coil

C59-300 - Stock front end load, 1.75" lift. 385/385mm, 17mm wire, 586LB
C59-599 - Stock rear end, 1.0"-1.25" lift (keeps rear end low, allowing to help level thevehicle rakewith2" front lift). 390/390mm, 17mm wire, 220LB

T1- spring rate 620lb
T13- spring rate 195lb


When the oem coil rates are 580 front and 180 rear

Might actually do dobinson c59-300front with t13 rear since those appear to be only slightly stiffer then oem

I'm leaning on eibachs, and still waiting on emails from dobinson and wheelers.

 

I did the job 20 bucks ....works now for 6yrs no issues .el cheapo !

 

What part of the country are you in?

 

I have 5100's on the lowest setting with Dobs 302 up front and 599 in the rear. (2.5" / 1.5" )

 

How do you like it? How's the ride compared to stock? Please post up some pictures of your 4runner

 

I really like it, it rides great. Before I put the Dobs on, I had the Bils with OEM coils, fronts set at 2.5" and had 1.5" spacers in the back. The ride is night & day now with the Dobs. Much more smooth and less jarring (for lack of better words) over chatter and bumps. I'll PM you a pic.

 

Thanks I'm still questioning the dobinson real coils since they have a higher spring rate then the t13 or eibachs

No, you're not preloading the coil any more than you would on the lowest setting. You're just moving the lower spring perch up which in turn lifts the truck.

But coils are a great option as well. Don't want to dissuade you from that route. It's just that you said you were 95% onroad and wanted to maintain a smooth ride and get rid of the nose dive. You can achieve that with stock coils and Eibach shocks alone, IMO.

 

Thanks for the input. I'm still researching coil spring rating, Since I want to keep the ride as smooth as possible. If I had to pick coils right now it be dobs 1.8" front coils, and 4th gen eibach 1" rear coils.
