What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I did this on my tundra. Just noticed ( don’t drive her 4Runner very much ) she doesn’t have a drivers handle. Is it like the tundra and it being 2 parts? Any chance you remember p/n? I can always dig around though. Looks good

I was just thinking. If this is really the SRS Curtain Airbag, you could end up getting hit in the face with the handle or the airbag may not deploy properly. I don't know which.

 

I can’t say it’s like the Tundra as I’m not familiar with it but the mod is primarily a bracket and then of course you need to buy the handle from Toyota. You can see the thread here -

This is a great mod. As previously mentioned by @spyder918 there are a few tweaks to the installation that are discussed in the linked thread. I’m not sure if they are in the official instructions yet. You have to follow directions, measure 3 times before cutting and drilling, and take your time.

The details of the airbag deployment have been studied and this handle will not affect its behavior. It’s similar to the handle on the passenger side.

The only issue I have with it is that the A pillar cover plate isn’t scooped out like on the passenger side. So big hands tend to rub against the plate when grabbing the handle.

I relocated my factory camera. I used the camera relocation kit from C4 fab.

Yeah totally understand that. It was “simple” but did take a few hours. You can watch the install video on YouTube. But basically it is 4 wires, remove the old camera. Cut the existing wires, solder the wires together, run the wires to the new location, hook the camera up to the mount and boom your done. Idk if you will have any mount points with your bumper, but you have skills so it wouldn’t be hard to weld that to your bumper. I hope this info helps.

 

I have the rigid relocation kit. No cutting/splicing/soldering wires. But you do run a wire to head unit. Not a big deal since there’s shit tons of room under the runner.

 

Where do u run the wires? Back through that tube grommet and into the back and down behind tail light?

 

Saw that one also looks like a nice kit, also saw the birds eye system from ajt that moves it above glass and keeps all wiring in the hatch which may be nice

 

It is ran through the rear hatch, into the cab, out the bottom, and to one of the swing where I have the camera mounted.

Repainted the hood. Funny thing is that I don’t care about rock chips at all, but one lifted the paint and was collecting water underneath. Match was dead on. I was impressed.

 

Just installed the ajt blackout ring on mine and it looks and fits nicely

 

is there a lock for those gas cans?

 

I've had my TRD Start button with AJT black ring installed now for a couple months. Works great, looks great!

 

Hooked up the trailer and picked up a new pellet Smoker/Grill.

Whatever you do don’t unplug the freakin hatch behind the headliner and forget to plug it back in. Especially if you have a drawer system and fridge that blocks the emergency access panel and you’re in the back seat. And ESPECIALLY you’re over 6’ tall. I saw a friend of friends cousins brothers sister do it and it was no fun……

Needed an iPad mount for my road trip to Nevada this week. A RAM set up woulda been over $300, so opted for two strong magnets and a little Velcro. Works like a charm
