2016 Tacoma TRD looking for a 4Runner for wife. love Toyota
I am looking to get my wife a new 4Runner. I have a '16 TRD Taco and love the Toyotas. My problem is we cant get a configuration we want. Do I have to wait until '18 model for what I want?

Want a 4Runner TRD offroad, offroad Premium or TRD Pro
    -with 3rd row
    -Push button start
I know the Limited has these options but we do not like the look of the Limited front end.

Will the 2017 have the same dash system as the gen 3 Tacoma? I really like the information system in my Tacoma.

Ok here's what I know, I'm pretty sure of the answers.

    1. TRD Offroad or Pro with 3rd seat is completely unlikely, probably impossible. I think only the SR5's get a 3rd seat option.
    2. Push button start probably only available with Limited. However, I have push button on my 17 Tacoma and I can tell you I wish I had a key start, so I could easily put a remote start on it.
    3. The dash system in the Tacoma will not likely appear until a model refresh, and there isn't a refresh for 17.

Also note, unless you get the limited you will NOT get:
    1. Auto On/off Headlights
    2. Climate Control

Finally, NO VERSION of the 4Runner comes with:
    Power Lift Gate
Toyota's aren't "ordered" for a customer, Toyota makes them, tells the dealers which ones they have, and the dealers try to get one like what you want. You cannot specifically order something if Toyota doesn't make it.

What's the appeal of the push button start, exactly? I always kind of wonder why it's considered a "feature". It's a button. You use it once to start the truck and then you forget about it until it's time to not start the truck, then you push it again.

    Oooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife's pro has auto on / off headlights and what are you calling climate control? It has ac, heater, heated seats and heated windshield wipers.

I think he means digital readout and dual zone temp control.

My Trail Premium lights are auto off.

Yea they turn off once the vehicle is off. Most people (myself included) just leave the headlights on all the time.

I didn't realize the Pro's had Auto on/off, my bad.

Does the Pro have Climate, essentially setting a Temp # and it just does it?

This isn't an attack on anyone, just a comment. I think people feels it makes the vehicle more premium.

The only thing I do like about it is I don't have to remove keys from my pockets, which means no fumbling in the cold or dark with them. But then again, still not a big deal and I never put much thought into it.

I will say one thing I love about my Tacoma is there's a integrated button on the door handle that if I grab it, it unlocks, and when I touch a certain spot, it re locks. Doesn't matter if I"m wearing gloves or not, it's pressure sensitive. So I can get in and out of vehicle and never even touch keyfob.

I'd still rather have a regular one so I can remote start it easier.

P.S. When someone is in passenger side of truck, you can't hand them the keys to crank it while you're loading stuff (or a kid). That's a big downside to Push button.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
this would be nice particularly this time of year. When I go out I'm usually wearing large gloves and trying to fish keys out of my pocket is a bit annoying. That said I agree it is nice to just reach in the cab and start it while I brush the snow off or load groceries in the back while it warms up a bit, if it were an option I would have probably got it on mine.

Gotcha, so only the Limited on the Climate then. Normally not a concern, but we did fiddle with it a lot this weekend due to Temperature swings and it would have been nice.

I had the same feeling with the op... I like the luxury of the suv but ordered TRD Pro, I see too many limited on the lot but none of tRD pro, so I decided to ordered the pro :)

I would like to have push button start as well. My wife's ride has it and it does come in handy.

I have a black Stingray and live in Texas. Remote starting it and getting the AC blasting in the summer is nice.

If I lived in a cold climate I would definitely want it for melting ice and snow.
