Has anyone modified their air intake system? I was thinking about getting good a K&N air filter for my 2016 4runner. Any suggestions?

The general consensus is that it is pretty much a waste of money. Little to no gains in HP. They do sound cool but I would rather just make motor noises with my mouth and keep the money.... my 2 cents.

I own one. I don't recommend getting it. Here's a picture of mine hooked up to a TRD supercharger (not 5th gen) IMG_5354.jpgSo basically, these things are great for steeet cars. The problem is that they are so prone to sucking water. This is bad if you're the typical puddle splasher or anything.
It also sucks because it gets dusty all the time. When you need to re-oil your filter, your car is out of service for about 2 days unless you have a second filter you can swap with.
It just really isn't worth the hassle. It also ruined my MAF sensor, and mundo CO2 sensor. Amounting to about 1k worth of sensors.

X 2, on the waste of money. I spent a ton of money doing the same thing to my tundra. No power gains, no gas mileage gains either. I thought it sounded cool at first, but after a while it just gets noisy. After 50k miles I took it all out and re installed my stock system. I can now talk to someone or listen to some tunes. If all you want is nice sound get a cat back exhaust. I can now even hear my Magniflow . Now it sounds great, and it hasnt thrown a MAF code since.

I installed this system made by Spectre. Around $130 from Auto Anything. Does sound good and seem to help at higher RPMs.

Today, I purchased the AFE Intake, Throttle Body Spacer, and Exhaust (20% off through AFE web). Suggested +36HP total. Intake is on back order until next week. Will post pics and thoughts once installed.

AFE Air Intake System and Throttle Body Spacer installed.... this thing sounds like an angry beast now! (AFE Cat Back exhaust also installed - but the intake/TBS combo is the more impressive single mod.
