I just ordered this basket for three reasons:

It seems to mount ok to the factory crossbars, the height of only 4.5 inches tall allows me to leave it on when putting into garage, and it’s a small business in Colorado that produces them.

anyone else have this on their rig? You have pics? Curious to know what I’m dealing with.
Also any insight on the mounting process? Anything to watch out for?

Yeah that's mine above. It went to Alaska once X10,000mi and did fine on the factory cross rails. Good basket.

I no longer have it, but only because the longer and taller Yak basket worked out better for us (the low sides of the RM are maybe actually a tad too low depending on your intended use). RM is just small enough that a spare tire basically eats up all the space but sometimes you want a small platform so it fits that bill nicely.

All the images of my 4R in this trip blog have the RM basket:

does it add a lot of wind noise or whistling? And damn. That’s the kind of reply I was looking for. Inspiring for sure.

    No it's pretty quiet IIRC

I found a few more pics for you in my files. The Waterport never actually got used in a trip, this was my mock up of it. Also to answer your question (sorry I missed it) the basket mounts in a Yakima style - 4 mounts, each is basically two plastic panels that form a sandwich around the factory crossrail, held together by two bolts and thumb nuts. Fairly simple. No tools needed.

Did you leave the crossbars in their stock position or did you open them up any?

I spread them as far apart as possible given the location of the basket mounts, to give the widest platform possible.
