Well I don't like putting up bad postings but after this unorganized trip we did this weekend i have to be that guy.

To all of you that looked at the post for the trip with Off The Grid Expedition consider yourselves lucky you did not join them. I did thinking it would be a great trip and i would meet a professional company with some great people. Well at least i was able to meet great people . As for the this guided trip it was not that. The head guy was completely incompetent of leading a group out on such a trip. Drivers meeting started out saying that the company follows all Tread Ligthly ground rules and that communication will be key. NOT Making new trails because your out of your mind and not telling anyone you have no clue where to go breaks all the rules of a organized trip. Then we finally stop him and told him that we wanted to know what was up after 3hours of go around and around in the same wash just outside Barstow. He agreed that we should go to the entry point that numerous vehicles told him about. At that point we got to the water crossing and yes he waited for all to get across because it was 35" deep and all the trucks wanted to watch each other go across ( That was awesome ). Then gone it was a race that no one knew they signed up for. The front 6 trucks just took off and it was fend for yourself at that point . Over the radio you hear to the front trucks a vehicle has stopped and nothing comes back saying ok we will wait. We could only just watch the dust could go bye bye.

At this point the last four trucks me included decided that it was just going to be our own trip hoping that we make it safely because they (HE) was not anymore. Needless to say from that point on we had a great rest of our trip cutting it short but safe .

Like I said i hate to be that guy but had to.

Damn thats a bummer. Someone who's organizing a trip should certainly be competent and familiar with the area before leading those who are unfamiliar out there. :shakes head:

So from reading your (somewhat confusing) post, and then looking at the original post in the Cali section, I still am confused - was this a paid service that you gave money to?

The ad sounds as if they have chase vehicles, mechanics, etc., following the group. Where did these people and vehicles go to when the group split?

You are saying that the trail leader missed the turn into the trail network repeatedly...? And that once he found it, after the water crossing, he and 6 others basically put the hammer down and left you and 3 others behind?

MeefZah I know a little confusing but putting words to just how bad it really was made it confusing. It was not paid but they did call everyone trying to get them to join for $150. calendar year fee. I did tell the leader of this i would consider it after the trip ( thank gosh i didn't pay and then be treaded to such a crap show). To sum it up yes there was support crews in the start but after two hours of being lost in the wash the chase truck broke down and they did get him to the road and told us he will be picked up by someone from Outlaw engineering. Yes there was a tool truck so you say. But he was in the front and didn't even try to go back and help there own guy. He just stay number three in line . Meaning he left with the leader. Yes we had to tell him where to go to even get to the trail head. At that point it was clear to us that spoke up that we were on our own. Now that shows you are an incompetent piece of work. I did just get a text from the owner wanting to talk about it . I will call him in a minute and update all on what is said.
Restless you nailed it on the head. Competent !!!
Ol'Blue bad taste that's putting it mild.
