Yup, it's a nice vehicle but that grille is way over the top. I was going to get a 4R Limited since it has a bunch of good stuff standard but changed my mind since I can't stand all that extra plastic and the gangsta wheels.

Back after a few months driving my GX. I love listening to the v8, great sound and super smooth. Interstate driving was a too spongy for me in normal mode, so I switched to sport mode and it’s more responsive.
I haven’t taken it off-road yet and still learning about all the features.

More like “perfect for what 95% of people actually use their vehicles for”.

The only negative of the GX is the approach angles which can be fixed. Everything else about the GX is better than the 4Runner. I guess you could add cost as a negative but it’s really not that much more for the GX over an Off-Road or Pro and they are both missing simple features like memory seats which the GX has.

Even people that off-road a lot are probably on paved roads 80% of the time.

I don’t miss my 4Runner at all honestly. The V8 and 6-speed are what should have been in the 4Runner.

I have 700 miles on my new GX and don’t see myself ever going back to a 4Runner.

I actually don't mind it and kind of like it.

Either way though if they changed the approach angles that would necessitate them changing the grille so it's be smaller.

It’s ok. The 4Runner in my family is a 2003 v8 limited. I love that truck, but it’s my moms. I wanted that for me. I had my money in hand, test drove a 2021 4Runner limited and hated it! It felt cramped and slow. I couldn’t believe it and it really saddened me. I had my heart set on a 4Runner. I drove the gx and realized the 2003 4Runner is the gx. I bought it and never looked back. I’ll get the groceries, carpool the kids, go on trips with the family, fishing, etc. I look for excuses to take it out just to listen to that awesome v8.

I’ve got a smile on my face every single day, dude!

My approach and departure angles are better on the GX then my 4runner now… after I cut all the damn plastic off haha

Having owned ‘21 models of both, the front end of the GX just ate at me. Side profile is pretty good and the taller greenhouse made it feel far more like my LX470.

However, it truly cannot be said enough, the steering wheel on the GX is infinitely superior. When I drove down from Eureka to Oakland to trade in the GX the drive back was a cool opportunity to compare.

If copacetic with the front end, the ‘22 GX fixed the other thing I struggled with which was the infotainment and offers much of the Land Cruiser thang for a reasonable price given how expensive them crossovers are these days.

I couldn’t agree more. My GX has been in the shop for almost two weeks getting the front fender and grill fixed and I have been driving my wife’s 2018 4runner. While I loved mine before I sold it, it doesn’t hold a candle to riding around in my GX. We took it all the way to Idaho from California and it drove like a dream. We then took it out on some trails and even stock it held up just fine and did the job.

Amusing that someone whose profile includes "Why all of the Pro hate?" would continue demeaning those who have opted for the GX and are quite happy with it.

Both are awesome vehicles. Guys get passionate (butt hurt) for some reason when comparing them. We are very happy with one of each.

Finally got it back from getting an all new fender and bumper. The Preferred Image in Los Gatos does outstanding work. Two weeks without it seemed like too long. 51F74A62-869A-4804-8FF4-AADA8EE889D1.jpg6D1C5618-94DB-4353-B3C5-419F27756AD1.jpgF456757F-4E39-4A3F-9755-4AC6C0778D77.jpgE83FF049-093D-4D2A-AB09-1B2A2706E2C9.jpg

It looks like you removed the two tone silver on the sport package. Is that right?

I hope you guys are aware of the “Ignore” option most forums offer? If someone insists on acting like a tool without contributing anything, it could be a useful option. I know I’m new here, but it’s great to be able to turn toxic people off on the forums. Luckily they seem to want to make themselves known.

I now get what you mean! I bought this car used with 5000 miles so I don’t know if the previous owner modified that piece. But when I look at others those extra sport design pieces under the bumper and fenders either match the color (in my case) or have that silver color as you mentioned. I wonder if it’s a nebula gray color thing?

I’ve seen several here, white, blue, red (mine), grey there is a chrome “u” shape on the front grille at the bottom and the grey fender flare front and back. I looked at your first pics you posted and the truck had those pieces, but now the chrome “u” is gone and the color isn’t two tone. That’s why I thought you updated the bumper.

Almost there! Thought I could fit the 285s without getting the back coil springs. Turns out they would rub so I ordered them today and they should be here Monday for install along with a new track bar20220114_164415.jpg . For now I have this awesome nose high ride but I'm still stoked! Pics to come Monday once the whole thing is level at about 2.5 inches.

Pretty insensitive of you to leave that beer orphaned on the driveway by itself.
