    Hi,

I am new to the forum and test drove a new 2016 sr5 4x4 with the tforce package. I like the truck and my only concern was it lacked acceleration. I pulled out on a highway feeder road and nailed the gas and there was not much going on. it didnt even down shift....maybe it was in 4x4 mode? I dunno.

It listed for 42300 and they dropped it down to 39k even. I think its a fair price. any thoughts?

    Sounds like an OK price.
The 4runner with the V6 is not known to be a rocket by any means, rather slow IMO. If you start adding additional weight with armor, larger tires etc it will start to feel even slower. I think most people buying the 4runner know it's not a rocket and purchase for the versatility and offroad capability rather than expecting it to dart around like a car in traffic.

Yay, they are all this way and the heavier you make them the :turtleride: they become. If they could get the HP to about 330 and the torque up a bit, they would be flying off the lot. I prob would have 3 of them. My dream would be to install the tundra engine with a 6 speed. Cant blame a man for dreaming.

Throttle response is less than desirable in the 5th gens. You really need to put your foot down to get it moving. IMO it really does have plenty of power it's just the way they designed the throttle response that is the issue. My 2009 Tacoma with less HP and torque felt much quicker off the line even though essentially they are the same engine.

My '04 V6 with an intake, a muffler, and a lift is quicker than the 1v mustang GTs the 5th gen is just heavy

It is very heavy for the size of vehicle. When we are in downpours I thank God for its weight. This thing is a tank on wet roads. Very stable and I'm glad to have my Son in such a reliable vehicle. :mudding:

They are not a rocket, but can manurve traffic very well, it is best to time it and step on it once you reach about 15mph. Evryone complains about not being able to pass really good, i have no issue but that probably explains my horrible MPG

We traded our '15 Wrangler JKU Limited on a '16 4Runner Trail (Canadian) and it has every bit of the power/acceleration of the Jeep, plus a helluva lot more comfort, better highway handling and maneouvreability. There is no way I'd go back to that Wrangler. We love our 4Runner! - Ted
