Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.

Did someone just digitally slap a Toyota badge on a new Bronco?

I don't care. I like the new imagined rendering. LOL. If Toyota still sold the FJ here I would have traded my 2010 for another new FJ. I liked the FJ that much. That said, no regrets with my 21' TRD/ORP. It's a great vehicle.

Still have my 08 I bought at the end of December 08 brand new.

215k miles on it. Still love it. But looking forward to my 22 ORP.

    :puke:

Hopefully, if they do, they give it a superior suspension setup. Or, at least do something to set it apart from the 4Runner other than being ugly.

I just don't get why they would bring back a failure, when they could just make a special edition 4Runner that would get some real off-road upgrades.

Look at what they are selling for even today. And they are still sold in 2 or 3 markets outside the western world. I think the FJ also just became unnecessary with the mechanics being basically identical to the 4Runner being sold at the same time. But I liked the funky retro-look (and the three wiper blades !! LOL) of the FJ. One guy told me it looked like a football helmet. LOL

It just didn't do justice to the FJ40 like it could have. And, I don't know why we needed a goofy looking 4Runner when plenty of young people buy the 4Runner.

I would rather see a trim level of 4Runner that had some serious off-roading upgrades like the "PRO" could be rather than driving around something that looks like one of the Toyota executives let their kid design a car.

I suppose I should have added one of these:

    :crapstorm:

Since I'm talking shit over here. :D

I'm mostly tongue in cheek over here. I have mixed thoughts on the FJ. I think they look good with the right accessories. I just didn't like that the rear seats didn't fold flat.

I didn't like some things about the Tacoma, either. It always sounded like a window was cracked.

I just hope that, if they do bring it back, they do something unique with the suspension and drive train. Like, 35's and 4.56 or 4.88 gears from the factory. Or, make it smaller and really basic like an actual FJ40.

Unfortunately, I just don't think Toyota has the balls to really do justice to the original FJ40. The market for it is so small, and Jeep already makes something comparable. I would be much more likely to buy something like that if it were made by Toyota, though.

While I think discussion and longing for the return of the FJ is appropriate, I still scratch my head as to why somebody wrote an article about someone’s drawing. Is that like news reporters reporting on random peoples tweets?

Maybe my phone getting choked down by ads on that site has something to do with it lol

It would be cool if manufacturers would every once in a while do a passion project, even if it doesnt make financial sense. They could treat it as a service to society. How hard would it be to re-make an original fj40. Ok, fine, it would be hard, but cmon toyota! You can do it! Plenty of market for farm vehicles I would think.

    I totally agree!

Jeep has done a pretty damn good job with the Wrangler.

I assume the biggest limitation is modern safety requirements. A true modernized FJ40 would probably require a lot of R&D and have a very small market. Toyota just doesn't take risks anymore.

If anyone really wants a modern FJ, there's always this:

    Not cheap, though!

True. It would be really tough for Toyota to compete with that. If they could build a vehicle with similar specs, I think they would sell. I just don't think they'd sell enough to make it worthwhile for them.

Honestly, if I can ever justify a trail toy, a 2-door Wrangler is near the top of the list.

oh my…I had no idea. That is beautiful. My eyes are still watering from the price though.

The tommy hilfiger edition or whatever its called has got to go. That, right there, is some smarmy marketing for some mealy mouthed wall street type. Yuck.
