    Starting a build thread for a 1996 SR5 T4R I picked up.

    Details:

    1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5
    3.4L V6 Auto 4x4
    176k miles (blown motor)
    1 owner
All service records from dealer for life of the truck.
Original window sticker, MSRP $31,800 in 1996!
Only rust on entire truck is rear bumper rotted through in the center.

    Paid $700.00

Pics are the night I trailered it home with my DD/tow pig and the next morning in the driveway. Nice thing about MD is at 20 years or older it can be tagged historic, so I did. Don't need to worry about inspection or emissions.

Seller sold it with a motor he bought from Craigslist with 120k miles but there is always a chance it is no good. Ill be taking a gamble installing it.

    Immediate Plans:
    Replace motor (obviously)

    Build Plans:
    Mobtown Weld On Sliders
    Mobtown Front Plate Bumper
Mobtown Rear Plate Bumper w/ Swing Out Tire Carrier
    Mobtown Full Skid Plates
    2-3" Lift (Suggestions Appreciated)
    33" Load C Duratrac Tires
    Mobtown Roof Rack for RTT

    Here we go!

Today we had a small break in the weather. So I pulled the mangled front bumper off, took off the running boards and measured up for a set of sliders. Just taking the running boards off made it look lifted haha.

Good project rig, should be a fun build
Just sold my '98 this week that I had built up over the last few years

Thanks Eric, I am looking forward to it. Never built up a 4Runner, only Tacomas. Wanted a good rig for beach and camping.

Modeled up a set of bolt on rock sliders for the gen 3 T4R today. Need to figure out how to make it a solid bolt on set without having to bust out the drill. Boxed chassis is making it tough. Here is about what they will look like though. 70" long, DOM tubing, 2" sq tubing, 3/16" attachment plate.

What state you located in Joe? I'd really thinking you're my guy for my future slider purchase and was hoping I could save freight by visiting you.

Make it a vacation. You make the drive, I won't charge you for the sliders and I will weld them on!

I figured if I do this I can offer them for sale to others since I need a vehicle for measurements.

Wife did not instantly shoot me down, I think she might be able to be convinced. Will keep you posted via PM or something.

Also need to get a set of Tacoma (3rd Gen) sliders from you too, so I might be able to order those and pick them up if we come to save on that shipping too.

Then I will be slidered out.
