I've seen some threads on this topic, but they don't exactly address my topic/issue.

The 2021 TRD Pro comes with a separate 9005 HB3 halogen bulb for the DRLs. I would like to replace it with an LED bulb. I have tried several and they don't work. It works with one halogen and one LED, but when I put both LEDs in I get nothing. The last ones I bought were 50W, as I thought I read that was the power needed to match the halogen power.

Is there a LED bulb that can be used as the DRL in a 2021 TRD Pro?

    Thanks.

I don't have a direct solution for your requirement. But I replaced that DRL to a 2nd high beam. That required a relay and a separate switch on dash to turn on and off. May be I will see if I can find a high beam wire to trigger the relay so both high beams turn on together.

Since I don't have a DRL I got some raptor style grill lights.

Just shared this if you consider this less useful drl to something better.

High beams are integrated with low beams (LED) on 2021 TRD Pro. DRL were a separate halogen bulb. I had to find a LED bulb with the right current draw to work.

Thanks for the lead! Hopefully a plug and play option will be had in the future.

I went ahead and purchased the bulbs you linked above and threw them in today. I’ve been in a rush today so haven’t had much time to really evaluate these.

    Initial impressions.

The new lights are much better in color than the factory DRL bulbs. Just what I was looking for so far.

Here are a few pics. Pictures trying to compare lights are pretty difficult but here is a quick attempt.

    New lights on the left.

Initially I didn't notice anything. I just went back outside and looked it over pretty good and from two feet or more I notice next to nothing looking directly at the lights.

When I get up to the light really close I can see some VERY minor flicker. And to see it I have to be looking at the bulb very close and a little off axis. Almost imperceptible. When I pulled into the garage and examined the lights on the wall I didn't really notice any flickering except maybe when the headlights were a foot away from the wall, and even then I wasn't sure if it was flicker or just maybe a little vibration from the car running.

Back away from the wall and you couldn't see it anymore. I did notice the lights got slightly brighter when changing gears from forward to reverse in the garage, stationary. This was only for like a micro second. I revved the engine and no changes.

Overall I'm super happy with these so far. I'm so glad to have that yellowish DRL gone. I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see how they look during the day.

I’m in the same boat as you here… we just need to figure out which headlight wire activates the high beam shutter, and tap into it for the relay signal…. That should give us additional high beams with the use of the stalk inside the cabin.

Please let me know if/when you figure out which wire that is!!

Would this work for a 2022? I know the difference in the 22 is the LED High Beam. But I'm trying to figure out if those bulbs would work in the 22 DRL

Thanks for the info. Are these the only bulbs that work for the TRD Pro DRL?

Thanks for posting these. Sorry I was too lazy to post mine... lol. I've had these lights for several months with no issues. I like the color so much better than stock.

I'm trying out a set of the auxbeams. Just installed them. First impression, yes they are whiter in color and the DRL flicker is so faint I can only tell if I stare at them for a bit. As far as high beam use goes, they're pretty dim. I'm going to use them for a couple days and probably return them. I wasn't expecting much for $22. They come in a small plastic ziplock, the "glass (plastic)" lens on one was already broken from the base. I didn't bother gluing it, I just pressed it back in.

If you want a DRL that's white like the headlight, you'll probably like them. If you're expecting a real bright highbeam, they might not be for you.

Thanks to @bomtest for link and @wakebrdr142 for pics. I installed these today and they work as described above. The brightness is on par with original halogens, which is good as these are only DRL’s and don’t need expensive bulbs. There is a little bit of flicker, but barely noticeable. Per link above to other forum post, these bulbs are in series and running at about 6-7 volts only.

Personally, I'm more concerned about high beam performance than DRL looks, but that's just personal opinion.
