I decided the chrome had to go. I removed the sr5 badges off the side and dipped the back emblems. Then done a quick wax job using meguires fast wax.20160909_152726.jpg 20160909_153524.jpg 20160909_193609.jpg 20160910_073227.jpg 20160909_165745.jpg

Looks good. I did a similar thing (dipped the 'limited badges too') with removing the chrome on my limited... There is just SOO much chrome.

Are you going to do the roof rack? That's the only chrome left on mine... Trying to decide the best way to go about it.

@clintwb... How'd you go about coloring your "Limited" badge that way?

    I just used Plasti Dip.

6-8 coats of black and the another 4 coats of the gunmetal 'metalizer top coat. It almost perfectly matches the Magnetic Grey paint.

I did all my chrome on my limited with the same process and it looks great!

Just mask off about 2 inches around the Badge.

Put 5-10 light coats from all angles and then put a few coats of the metalizer over the top until it gets to a good color. The metalizer lightened the black so if you want pure Matte black just skip that.

If you want glossy black they have a plasti dip gloss coat. I liked the metalizer because it almost paint matched the color of the car.

Here are other parts I did too:
Chrome handles & Chrome rocker trim:

That looks amazing!!!! I have the same 4Runner Limited in Magnetic Gray. I'd love to do this to mine! I removed the side rocker trim and had Shrockworks slider steps installed using their TE trim kit. I'm considering new bumpers (I got bumped from behind and it cracked my rear bumper so now I have the bumper bug). I will still have the 4Runner emblem on the front and rear as well as the Limited badges, door handles and roof rails. I'm nervous about spraying the car like that but you did an amazing job! When you did the side Limited badges you left about an inch all around the badge in masked and sprayed it right on the paint?? Does that not cause issues or look over sprayed? I can't tell from the image the pics look great! To bad you don't live here I'd pay you to do mine. :)

Just thought of another question. Did duping the door handles have any effect on the locking and unlocking touch sensors?
