    I am new here.
    I am buying a 4 runner. 2017 4Runner SR5 premium, 9000miles, asking for 35,500, plus tax 2218, 7 years warranty $2600.
It is from Toyota A1 dealer. And they sell me this $2600 warranty can cover up to 7 years.
Am I get a fair deal or I should wait. This car have 3rd row seat, leather interior, pretty good condition. Out of door $40,310

MSRP on a 2022 4runner SR5 premium is about $44,800 (with moon roof). Of course you need to find a dealer that isn't applying a huge markup due to the shortages. I pick mine up in a week or so and I paid the sticker price. So for another $4,00 you would be in a brand new vehicle. 4runners and tacomas are legendary for their resale value and are among the few vehicles that you're sometimes better off just buying new instead of used.

    Hmm,

Driven around 2,000 miles per year and is in 'pretty good' condition? That's odd.

Tons of pictures may help tell a story. Body, frame, suspension, interior, brake pedal etc.

Be careful with warranty. Is it a Toyota warranty? I doubt it probably 3rd party

In today's car market, $40K out the door is about right for a used 4Runner w/less than 10,000 miles, especially if its a Certified Used Toyota (depending on your location). You might want to check whats covered in the $2600 warranty, even its a Toyota Care. Most people think its bumper to bumper, but its usually not.

    just my 2 cents

My 2018 SR5 Premium was $34k new. I'd have a hard time paying that for a used one but the market is pretty nuts right now.

Is it certified pre-owned by the dealer? If so, it should already come with a warranty and you won't need an additional one.

If it's not certified pre-owned by the dealer, then I would question why. If they can't certify it, there could be something up with it that won't allow it to be certified. That's worth investigating.

Yes Toyota certified A1 dealer, and the warranty come with it is only one year. The $2600 warranty is for 7 years 10k miles

just remember, you are asking 2018 prices. I traded in my Tacoma for my 4 runner and got what I paid for it new as a trade in with 90k miles.

someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Tacoma and 4Runner still top the list for resale?????

I just checked "CarGurus". That is a better price and way less miles than anything they have listed. Given the current market, I'd buy it...now!
FWIW I paid $36,300 for a 2018 SR5 w/17,000 miles in March 2021. The only upgrade it had was syntex/heated seats.

And skip the extendo warranty. You probably will never use it. That $2600 could be used for mods.

I bought the extendo warranties on previous vehicles. Repairs cost less than I paid for the warranty.

I feel bad for you guys paying these markups.

Seriously, Toyota car salesman talk about the reliability and dependability of Toyota vehicles then finance guy tries to sell you on an extended warranty. Like, it's a Toyota I shouldn't need it according to your salesman? Or are you saying Toyota is not as reliable as the salesman says? Lol kind of funny dont you think?

Extended warranties are transferrable? I didn't think so. so it won't help with Trade In.

I don't remember exactly, but probably pretty close to $36k.

But the "out the door" price doesn't really matter because taxes and fees can be different city to city. Plus everyone has different add-ons (or not).

I think it's better to compare the base price, personally.

Some people quoting 2018 prices in this thread are silly. Pricing in 2021 is way different and a new one at MSRP is considered a good deal now.

Also remember, everyone on the internet pays $7k-$10k under MSRP.

My specific situation won't help you because I had a trade in plus cash down. So my out the door price was significantly less than sticker.

Yes RWD that's what I have and what the ad is. SR5 premium's come in 2 or 4wd drive. Is the one she wants to buy 2 or 4wd drive?

I'd pass if it's 2wd. You'll never be able to sell it once the hysteria dust settles. If it was 4wd, it's a fair price considering today's market, but they're nailing you on the warranty to the tune of around $1000

A 2wd 4runner is like buying a 6 cylinder Mustang. There is a market for them, but it’s much smaller. And those who want a 6 cyl mustang, probably dont care that it’s a mustang, so they wouldnt be that motivated to pay top dollar. So you probably shouldnt be feeling pressure to get this one.

There are places selling at MSRP. If you are looking for a 2wd, the price of new may not be far off of what this dealer is asking for the used one.

But if you want a 4wd 4runner, dont settle for a 2wd. You’ll end up resenting your decision. It’s an expensive mistake to make.

Exactly the same with me. 21' ORP. Paid 42k in March with down payment and took delivery in early May. It seems late March/early April the crazy pricing started.

I just put a deposit down last week for 22' ORP at a local dealer, apparently there is nothing available except for this one. Still at the port, not sure why this one is available. only options i dont like are anodized running board and not having 360 camera. but $46k before taxes and this price includes $750 keep it wild savings, so i'd say under MSRP LOL

Just for giggles I checked KBB for the value on mine. Took delivery in July (21 SR5P). Private sale with the miles I have on it is $7k over what I paid for it. The 4R isn't going anywhere as long as I am above the dirt. I may have to install a trunk monkey to keep it from getting jacked with the way things are going!

Oh no, buy a new one. I bought mine for $46,000 and it is a Premium TRD Offroad with KDSS. This is not the time to buy used vehicles. Find an MSRP dealer and buy a brand new. New comes with warranty and free maintenance, and PEACE OF MIND.
Look, they are selling a 2019 with no KDSS, with 33,000 miles for $49,000, while brand new 2022 with KDSS is $47,000.
