From my experience, I would say your dealer isn't going to "order" you a vehicle. He's/she's (PC bullshit) going to search whats available either coming over or what's in the area. I wouldn't hold my breath. Car sales men eat their young. OK, let the shit fly. :crapstorm:

I put money down on a 22 Pro in mid-Sept for one they had an allocation for. It begins its build 10 Oct with a projected land date of Nov sometime…

Sounds like we are looking for a very similar vehicle. I placed a deposit for a Lunar Rock ORP non-KDSS three weeks ago, so I’m kinda wondering the same thing. My salesman said he would give me a call after a month to give me an update, but from the few dealers I talked to they said to expect 3-6 months.

Guys, hold them to their quoted price. Someone may come along willing to pay more. Many moons ago, I saw a Yamaha FZ600 on the floor with a sold sign on it. When in inquired about it with the intention of buying it on the spot, the salesmen asked the guy with the gold chains "How sold is this?" The answer was "Sell it." I rode it home. Keep a close eye on when your truck comes in and be ready to jump. Good luck guys. Hope it works out for yas. And for CFS, don't post your dealers name or even their location.

Ordered a 22 TRD Pro in Lime Rush at the beginning of August for MSRP. Just checked with dealer yesterday and they still have not received an allocation for any Pros. My dealer is a big dealer in Cleveland, OH and never usually has any trouble getting Pros allocated. Seeing that it’s October already, I am thinking I won’t see it until March/April. That’s fine by me as I really don’t want it delivered in the dead of Cleveland winter so I can get it Waxoyled before the salt and brine hits the frame.

    deposit for 22 ORP
I'm trying to get my first 4R. Want the pro but do not need the pro. I just got a call from the dealer today, says all the other ORP is reserved. Had a super white ORP with ok options moonroof/runnning boards but No camera. I put a deposit down of 500. Will be here Nov second week. I asked what the price is if there's a wiggle room or just MSRP and she said MSRP + that $750 sale going on right now. I guess we live in a weird time. Guess I'll have to pick up a COVID shift to make up for the MSRP price lol

MSRP for any Toyota is pretty standard. I lucked the hell out with mine and got them to take the price of the KDSS off, but they know they can easily sell them at MSRP regardless of the economy. Looked up the value on mine and it’s worth $1k more than MSRP when I bought it with COVID inflation. I’d say you scored well at $750 off. Now, to start stripping mine back to stock to sell it.

Here is an article about how Toyota vehicle delivery works, it is a bit old, but I do not think much has changed, based on my purchase experience from August 2021.

    https://www.ineak.com/toyota-dealer-and-demand-fulfillment/

And below is a copy/paste from it:

Toyota’s Order Fulfillment Process: U.S. Model

There are four options for dealers to fulfill customer demand, as outlined in Toyota’s options for demand fulfillment.

The first option is to fulfill the customer’s order from dealer stock. The salesperson will attempt to influence the customer to select a vehicle already in stock. Such an approach is preferred by the dealer because the sale can be consummated immediately, before the customer leaves the dealership. The salesperson is always concerned that once a customer leaves without the keys to the car, she will change her mind and end up buying from another dealer or a competitor. The order-to-delivery lead time for vehicles purchased from stock is usually zero to two days.

The second option for fulfillment is a dealer trade. In that case, the salesperson can access a dealer locator system to determine if the vehicle is in another dealer’s stock in a nearby city or state. Usually the distance is limited to less than 500 miles, because if the vehicle is driven more than 500 miles before it is sold, the excessive mileage may violate the warranty. This issue can be avoided by hauling the vehicle on a trailer. In most cases, the dealers actually swap vehicles, meaning that two vehicles need to be transported instead of one. This method of fulfillment will add several hundred dollars to the dealer cost, because the dealer must pay a driver as well as cover the cost of fuel to transport the vehicle. That extra cost may or may not be passed along to the customer depending on how anxious the dealer is to sell the vehicle. It also adds miles to a new car before customer possession. The order-to-delivery lead time is usually two to three days.

The third option is to locate the vehicle in the dealer’s pipeline. The pipeline consists of vehicles that have been allocated or assigned to the dealer but have not arrived at the dealer. The pipeline can be divided into three segments:

    1. Vehicles produced and in transit from the plant
    2. Vehicles that are either in the process of being built or for which the specifications have been frozen just prior to production
    3. Vehicles scheduled for production with specifications that have not yet been frozen
If an exact match of the customer’s specifications can be located in the first two groups, then the vehicle can be reserved for the customer and should be delivered in two to three weeks.
The next choice is to locate a vehicle that is scheduled for future production and request a change in specifications. That step requires the manufacturing plant to agree to change the vehicle specification. The process is as follows:

    • The dealer submits an online request to change a vehicle that has still not been produced. The change request can be a simple one-for-one change; for example, “I have a red Camry and I want a blue Camry.” The change request can also be one-to-many or many-to-one; for example, “I have a red Camry and I want either a blue or white Camry,” or, “I have a blue Camry and a black Camry and I want a silver Camry.”
    • The next step is for the sales company’s computer system to analyze and determine if any of the change requests can be satisfied by simply swapping the vehicle with a dealer who has submitted a change that is the exact reverse change request. For example, if a dealer in Boston wants to exchange a blue Camry LE for a black Camry XLE and a dealer in Chicago has a black Camry XLE and wants a blue Camry LE, then the computer can simply swap the dealer assignments. If this online swap is successful, then the virtual swap is made and both dealers will be notified.
    • If the above swap is not available, then the changes are sent to the manufacturing computer system that checks to ensure that the change can be made without exceeding any of the manufacturing constraints. Each assembly plant establishes a fluctuation allowance for each vehicle option, including color. Each dealer change request is systematically evaluated to make sure that none of the allowances are exceeded. If the change is accepted, the vehicle specifications are changed and the result is sent back to the dealer via the sales company. Also, the dealer will be notified if the change cannot be accepted, so the dealer can modify it or leave it in a pending status to be reprocessed the next day. Vehicles changed at the factory are usually delivered in 30 to 40 days.
    • The last resort (or fourth option) is to request a build-to-order vehicle from the regional office. That step would require the region to input the special order in the next month’s order cycle. A special request order typically has a very long lead time (usually three or more months).
In addition to the order-to-delivery lead time for each of the fulfillment options as shown in Order-to-delivery time for U.S. market , it is also important to provide an accurate ETA (expected time of arrival) for the dealer to keep its customer updated. Not only should a date be provided, but the actual progress should be updated daily, similar to the way UPS tracks packages. Initially, the ETA is calculated using the estimated production build day and adding the standard transit time from the factory to the dealer. As can be seen from Order-to-delivery time for U.S.market, the longer lead time orders will result in a less accurate ETA. This calculation must take into account the standard deviation, because the transit time for each route will vary depending on many external factors. Toyota believes that it is better to underpromise and then overdeliver.

I went through similar thoughts. I ordered mine in March so it would never see salt/snow overall and here in Michigan. I took delivery in June and got it fluid filmed two weeks ago even though I will not drive in winter. I have seen too many bad frames in pics and on lots.

Ordered June 4th with $500 down at Toyota Carlsbad. Told 3-4 month. 30 people ahead of me. Allocated mid August with October delivery.

By that time, it was a 2022 and msrp increased a hair.

I was fortunate enough to get a 22 the same day it got there at my local dealership. Apparently, it was ordered and the buyer didn't end up wanting it. It worked out cause it was exactly what I wanted!

Call the Motor City auto spa in Royal Oak (Delemere Court location). Speak with Matt the owner. I cannot say enough nice things seriously. I had my windows tinted on a Friday and some POR put on a few rusty welds (vehicle was new in June). He let dry overnight, covered entire vehicle and running boards then sprayed. I removed my spare tire ahead of time as well. He also sprayed the exposed metal around wheel wells and taped off the non metal surface. In addition did they skid plate and brackets holding running boards as rust develops there.

If you call tell him Scott referred you with silver 4R. My colleague had his new 4R done there and a new Tundra and was very pleased. Cost was $165 for fluid film.

I did a ton of research and cannot say enough nice things about this business.

I used ff myself months ago with wax applicator on hitch since all those seem to look like crap after a few months. Matt and Colin are good guys.

I’m in Canada and my TRD pro is sitting at the compound here in Ontario. They won’t ship it to the dealer because it is missing step bars and the pro specific tires. So who knows. They said end of this month.
I also didn’t order this vehicle. It was just there.

Hi- I think your on-line calculator is broken. Financing $33,716 for 84 months at 4.99% interest would be a payment of ~$476/month with ~$6,300 in interest.

I guess I got lucky... I just happened to be driving by Carlsbad and saw exactly what I wanted on the lot (2022 ORP, Magnetic Grey), so I pulled into the parking lot. 2 hours later I was home with it.

Sorta... This one was part of their partnership with ORW to pre-config with lift, wheels, tires. The upgrades were pretty overpriced, but they're exactly what I would've done anyway and am WAYYYY too busy to get it done myself, so I was fine overpaying a little for the convenience factor (plus apparently it's a little more warranty-friendly when they're done pre-purchase). Other than that, standard pricing was in play, and I'm happy with the price I paid for the sweet ride I drove away with. They also came in easily with a great price on the trade-in. This is my third vehicle from Carlsbad. They're the easiest (read: no-BS) dealer I've ever worked with.

Hell yeah, man! That was pretty much how my story went at the exact same dealership haha. They gave me a great trade allowance and "I said F*&% it, why not?".

4runner.jpg I'm feeling blessed or lucky. Took delivery of my 2022 4Runner TRD ORP in Midnight Black on 21/09/2021 yet the build date is 08/2021 on the door and all the way from Japan. Go figure maybe the ports aren't so backed up in Canada but there're still hard to get here. You do have to purchase sight unseen though. Never ever thought that would be the new norm thanks to Covid. Wasn't even sure on final option details. Didn't special order it just expressed my interest to my local dealer who gave me an unofficial date of mid Oct. for delivery and then bam there it was.

Visited 2 dealers, fell in love w/the one I bought, but hubby wasn't keen on the color. Went to another and saw a Silver, same features and sticker until we sat to talk price. They racked on a ton of fees that they couldn't explain and refused to come down on the price. Called the other dealer and they were just sticker, 799 doc, 16.50 title and the 3.75% tax. We bought the black one I was in love with because the dealer was honest and fair.
For those of you looking for the Lime Rush TRD Pro, look in the South. I have seen several of these at dealers, but be warned that sticker is between 56-60k and not at the same dealer I did business with. Most dealers we have spoken to are tacking on a "Market Adjust" or disguising it. If you want Lunar or the Pearl White some are even trying to charge a 3-5k special paint fee that's not on the sticker due to demand. This is not condoned by the more reputable Toyota dealers, but it is what it is.
Keep in mind, the 100kmile Power Train, 46 Point Inspection, and when you see the ToyoGuard Platinum 699 on the sticker, your dealer shouldn't try to tell you that the "fees" are for service to inspect your vehicle before you drive it away, it's for your power train warranty or for 25k mile service because that's already on the sticker and not a truth in sales practice.

I put a deposit on a dealer allocation on 9/11/2021, picked it up on 10/14/2021. Paid MSRP.

Exactly I made deal on mine that was in transit put $500 down, salesman called me when It arrived. He said you gotta get down here they are going to sell it. They were working a deal with some lady to sell for $7000 mark-up. It is a bad climate out there, and dealer greed is the rule.

So I would have been screwed the salesman would have been screwed, but didn’t matter bottom line is dealership was making money, they will eat there young.

I feel it will only get worse.

Market is so screwed, that I sold my truck yesterday for $500 less than I paid for it 11 years ago, and I know I could have done better

Sorry for jacking this thread, but you guys with deals or expectations just watch your backside.

But do not forget about the mess on our Western Coast, where Cargo Ships have been waiting for weeks Anchored off the California and Washington Coast, because they cannot get Clearance to off load their Cargo, many of which most likely have Cargo Holes full of New 4Runners and other Vehicles that were built in Japan and South Korea, If you just placed your order for a New Japan Built 4Runner, I wouldn't hold my breath until its arrival sometime in the year 2022.
