That is a nice tool, but my problem is that I don't have the water set up at this rental place where I live

Are you referring to cleaning up after a dirty trail run? Or, just in general.

For post-trail cleaning, I go to a pay + spray DIY car wash. I started taking 2 set of ramps to make it easier to get underneath. It usually takes several cycles to get everything cleaned off, and then I pull out and hose everything into the drain.

Both in general and Post Trail, can you tell me how much those ramps cost?
Also man it rains a lot in Seattle area, and this rain water is not only water, I'm sure it's harmful

The ramps are about $45 per set (2) on Amazon:

RhinoGear 11912ABMI RhinoRamps MAX Vehicle Ramp - Pair (16,000lb. GVW Capacity) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0117EESNC

Check your local parts store, though, as they may have a better deal.

Guys, this car is the biggest asset I've ever bought in my life, and it will be the last, so I am being extra cautious to protect my asset in every way. Look at my two dashcams :)

You might to want to read the one-star reviews before using these plastics ramps with a 4R. Lots of occurrences of them breaking or collapsing.

Did this happen to you? I've used them a few times so far without any issues. I also have a buddy with the same ramps and no problem.

I'll be keeping an eye on them for sure. But, I wonder if a lot of the negative reviews are due to people using them on uneven surfaces.

Another option: Check out the rustproofing places in your area. The one near me advertises simple under-carriage wash for around $45.00. They will have a lift.

It never happened to me, but reading the Amazon reviews it seems they can fail due to using them on uneven surfaces, too fast of an approach, if tires not evenly centered, or if one skids away as you start to drive on it. And a few reviewers stated they did everything right but a ramp collapsed anyway, maybe due to a manufacturing error. There’s some speculation that the older versions of these ramps were built better and stronger.

I’ve used metal ramps and sturdy DIY wooden block ramps. The only problem I had was in the front they sometimes skid forward when driving on them. But putting it in 4HI will minimize the skidding as the front wheels tend to pull the ramps instead of pushing them. Just gotta be careful with anything that lifts your vehicle.

$45 would be worth it to me sometimes. Whenever I get into the wet and sandy red mud/clay in UT and AZ it takes numerous undercarriage washings to get it kind of clean.

Most DIY wand washing places around me have signs prohibiting heavy mud so you have to be quick and sneaky and wash it away like Thatbassguy said.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on them. I looked at the reviews, but figured at least some of the failures were probably caused by misuse. I'm going to have to inspect them carefully each time I use them.

Been using them for over a decade, and never had an issue. But I've always wondered if someday they will shatter while I'm under the vehicle. Luckily there is enough ground clearance I wouldn't get hurt. And I am careful to keep my body and extremities out of the tire lines.

@Thatbassguy James, so I went to a self car wash today, and used the hose to spray water as far as I could, the axles, kdss bars, skid plate. Now the question is. Can water sprayed from beneath the car enter the electronics or engine and cause some issue?

I haven't had any issues. I wouldn't get too close to electrical connections with pressurized water, but everything should be able to handle a splash.

I used the low pressure water spray. Looks great. Tomorrow I am going to Line-X for undercoating. This is how it is done.

Rain is not pure water. It has a lot of crap in it which could harm the frame.
