Hello, I'm new to this site and I was wondering what is the best way to mod a 3rd gen.

I was hoping to put a light bar and
add a extended front bumper but I can't find any good ones.

I have a savage offroad front bumper on mine.

They are nice and the price isn't too bad.

Don't need to mod it, they're capable of many things.

JMO, even though I have 99 3rd gen with 285k miles on it, I think more of it than to drive it through the muck so deep that I need a snorkel

A snorkel is to feed the engine with clean air.

It's not for driving in water contrary to the name.

It looks like Victory 4×4 and Coastal Off-road make full bumpers, among others.

For a light bar, Rigid and Baja Designs are 2 of the top brands. I have a Rigid 20" in my bumper, and the output is fantastic! Otherwise, there are less expensive options, but you won't get the same output or quality. A lot of folks run generic light bars, though. Get what suits your budget and purpose.

They're also worth a lot of Bro points.

And, completely unnecessary for most of us. I certainly wouldn't recommend one to most people.

Agreed. Racked up 375 off road miles around the North Rim last May, extremely dusty. Filter

didn't need replaced or even shook out.

Its also a good accessory for making the rig bad ass...
For the 3.4L naturally aspirated you will feel the benefit on the pedal...

When it comes to driving in the dust, I think I would trust the factory air inlet vs. a snorkel, as a retired diesel tech I had a lot of trucks in my service bay with dusted engines, people with poorly installed aftermarket intake systems, the biggest culprits were poorly maintained K&N style filters

Enjoyed your thread over on Tacoma World. Glad your back is feeling better, kinda in the same boat with pain and pain management. As always keep up the great

work and work safely. Rear bumper is pristine, great job dressing your welds. Christmas is coming- can I get on your "nice" list?

Thank you for the kind words!

Back pain is absolutely the worst; I don't wish it on my own worst enemy even.

As for the welding, man if I wasn't being frugal I could've finished it by now

I've been wanting to pick up some 4' of rectangular tubing versus committing to a 20' piece so for now I'm building some shelving for my neighbors shop.

Since I'm basically retired, I offer small welding jobs for free if someone brought work to me.
