After a very long wait our ordered 4Runner was shipped from Japan. It landed in the U.S. and sat in port for a few weeks!

it’s finally here and my wife gets to drive the new ride home. She loved her Jeep Cherokee Latitude (lease vehicle) and leased 2 of them. I wanted a 4Runner but I purchased a 2015 2wd tacoma traded it on a ‘17 Tacoma sport. I put 100k miles on it. Values were crazy so I bought a new 21 Tacoma sport manual. My wife’s lease is ending in October and I somehow sold her on the idea of a 4Runner. She test drove it and fell in love with it…
“My plan worked!” Keep the Tacoma and buy a 4Runner. We pick the new vehicle up tomorrow and I’m stoked!

In 4 years my Tacoma can be used as trade in for her new vehicle and I’ll probably keep the 4Runner since she only puts on 5,000 miles per year.

The Toyota driveway is multiplying. The kid wants a RAV4. More $$$$!

So I crawled under our 2021 sr5 premium today and noticed the skid… or lack of. This is what is a stock skid now?









2 mesh grates are exposed.
Weird!

 

I don’t know what’s the point of that, I will let you know that they will get bashed in if you run into snowbanks.

Also LOL at the union parking, I’ve owned Japanese trucks that are more American than the big 2.5.

Yep. What you see is what they got. Not entirely skiddish. Maybe if you got another oem 'skid' you could weld them together. Then it would be twice as good. Or half as bad. Or equally good/bad.

I need a drink. Nice truck, by the way.

 

We purchased 2 from Andrew.
I bought a new tacoma in May and talked the wife into the 4Runner. We were able to get one that was in the middle of being built and put the deposit down. 3 months later it arrived in Port.

Well bolt on sliders were $900. I told her weld ons were $300. She only wanted bolt ons but didn’t want to spend $900 for step rails…

4runner and the Tacoma

Got things ready the night before.
Dropped the spare from the wife’s 4Runner and thinking I’m stealing her tires for the Tacoma. Not sure if she’ll notice!

2 hrs later skids are back on , Jack stands removed, floor Jack lowered, and backed out the driveway.



Then it was on to the Tacoma!
Fun filled day!
Placing the gallon can in 5 gallon bucket of hot water helped make the fluid film pour out of the can easy as pie!

5k service at Ziegler????/Racine Toyota



Won’t recommend this dealer ever.

Brought my 2021 Tacoma in at it 5k and never inspected anything. I ran the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail the week before and the engine was dust covered from 4hrs of gravel roads. The air box clips were untouched. I told the service writer when I brought it back for 10k service. He explained they don’t touch it to inspect it……
Wait…. Did he say they don’t need to open it to inspect it?

oh well. Just hope they changed the oil. Always tighten lugs after this place!!!!!!!

Your wife has good taste. That is a classic ride there. I also have an SR5.
Mammoth Cave was fun. Took the 2020 4runner and my family there in August. I enjoyed the tour. Not for the faint of heart, elderly, or fat people Lots of walking, stairs, tight spaces, one spot called "fat mans Misery". Also constant 50 degrees in the cave, had to listen to a family from Florida whine the whole time about how cold it is .......#bring a sweatshirt dummies!

A few years ago we went to Crater Lake National Park.

We hiked from the top of the crater all the way down to the water. Such a easy walk of switchbacks. It was easy till the hike back up the volcano! I made it.

 

No man, it’s all about modern diagnostic technology. They probably borescoped the airfilter.

 

perfect timing for the freezing rain! Our furnace blower motor crapped out.

$800 for a part on a 25 year old furnace or $6k for new furnace and air conditioner?

Currently running a box fan pushing some heat till I can find someone that has the part in stock or break down and buy new.

Crisis averted!
My neighbor traced down a little sensor on the blower motor to protect from power surges. New one and backup spare have been ordered.

didn’t really want to spend $7k replacing my 20+ yr old heating and a/c units.

I owe him another bottle of whiskey and dinner!
