Outstanding pictures! Now I want to go. Had a previous engagement for this one so I didn't chime in. Since I'm a 4 wheeling beginner, not sure I would have been properly prepared.

You would have been fine! We had a great time up there and Bodie the Dog knows some killer trails and great stories! Definitely go with him if he offers (hint hint). Speaking of, where are Bodie the Dog's pics?

It was reasonably tame stuff. My novice buddy did it with just some minor verbal direction in my truck. You would be fine.

I don't think he's permanently banned, it's a 30 day thing. The bans seem rather inconsistent considering I've said some sideways shit and no one has raised an eye...

Hey Sac. Any of you have a TRD Hood (one with scoop) on your 5th Gen that you want to vinyl wrap so the sun does not blind you? I am selling them now but I changed my design and want to test fit it. I will be selling them for $35 due to cost of materials etc but I will sell one to the first buyer for $20 and I will install it for you so I can make sure the new cut is good and lays out correctly. I just dont want to remove the one I already have on ours that is my old cut. I have test fit over ours but I just want to install start to finish and make sure it is 100% before going full production. New design cleans up the curved line on the side where it bends down towards the point so it follows the body line a little better. (Pics below are my old design the vinyl shown here is 2 years old so it stands up to elements very well) PM me. Thanks

Edit: New Vinyl Distributor so I can go down to $40 now!

Hey all- this is nice stuff, grateful for the work. It's not as thick as the 3m so it won't look raised or catch light on the edges. Thanks @MyWyfsRnnr !

Crapola. One more week until the forests reopen, I hope. Gates are mostly open, but roads are closed with tape flagging and scary signs.

They had gatekeepers at all the popular entrances early in the season, so this is rather light. Some tinfoilers are saying they have trail cams to track trespassers. If I wasn't so busy, I would be checking out these "facts".

We'll have to wait until late fall, boys, to be reunited.

    Everyone else doing okay? @MyWyfsRnnr @BlackInSac @2Toys @MattMo @ee4r21

Yeah, had to move our deer season back a week because the forest won't be open yet. Looking forward to finally getting back out there though! I think we are going to go do Barney Riley road to go see some of the burn when we're up there at deer season

I tried to go up yesterday, hoping to harvest elderberries from along the road. I use them as medicine, and the harvest season will be over next week. The County road is still legal, you just can't leave the roadbed.

I have never seen so many cops as I did yesterday. CHP, sheriff, fish and game, Forest Service, the works. Mostly that was due to the previous night's lightning strikes, although they didn't seem to have made it far from the road, lol. I was almost at my harvest site when I found a ranger in the ditch. I stopped to ask if she needed help, and after polite conversation she responded by threatening to give me a ticket, lol. Yes, I was legal, but if I took one step out, she could cite me. I wasn't going to post this, and maybe embarrass her, but she failed the attitude test, lol again. So just a reminder to the young, gung-ho LEO's out there: if you aren't a dick, you will gain another set of ears and eyes out in the wilderness. The locals will want to work with you and help you, and will respect your autority (!) and local regulations.

I took Mosquito Ridge Road all the way to French Meadows late yesterday afternoon. I saw a couple guys on rice rockets just outside of Foresthill, who said they had seen only a couple FS units, and everyone waved, no problems. And those were the last people I saw all evening. I had the mountains to myself, no traffic, no smoke of campfires, no lights on the horizon, just me and the bats. And a large number of foxes, for some reason. Four days until the forest re-opens!

Yeah, I have had both excellent and horrible experiences with All the different LEO's out there. I typically have the worst interactions when they have out of town Rangers or Game Wardens working up here. Worst experience being a out of town warden drawing his glock on me when I was 12 because I was walking with a loaded rifle while hunting... That being said, I always will stop and help any LEO from any organization and I have nothing but respect and support for them until the "individual" changes my mind. Off the soap box, Eldorado Forest says they planned on opening Oct 1st from what I have seen. Is that what you all have seen as well? I am about to move my vacation back a week so I can actually go into the forest haha.

El Dorado is on a different schedule because of the Caldor Fire. The rest of the national forests are planning on opening September 17th.

Fish and Wildlife can be a problem, as they seem to have probable cause to search your vehicle just by virtue of you being out there during hunting season. They will set up actual check points, although most of the offenders they catch are for DUI. Ever see that show, Wild Justice? It was set locally, and demonstrates not only how willing they are to spend big money on a stakeout, but also the effect of out-of-town LEO's. My neighbor (fish and wildlife officer) was on the show, in an episode where he had to tell the Lt., "Don't get so worked up, that's just pot. People usually store it in their gun safe." LOL.

Oh, and to answer Icyhotass's earlier question, some agencies do use wildlife cams, usually positioned at key intersections, primarily so they can investigate arsonists after a fire start. So don't take a leak at forest intersections.
