Has anyone tried or found a dealer taking orders on a 2022?

I went to a local dealer last night and they said Toyota is not taking any orders right now.

I ordered a 22 Lime Pro at the beginning of August. Mine started taking orders for 22s as soon as the banks opened.

Still waiting for everyone to accept that "ordering ≠ allocation".

I was gonna ask where you’re located but I’m guessing NY. That’s a bit too far for an order, even an early one for me, I’m in SoCal.

True, a few of the dealers I’ve spoken with have said ordering is different from what they get allocated.

We are all aware of the procedure, order is just a blanket statement so we don’t have to go into the whole stupid allocation explanation. We all know the drill.

From how it was explained to me the only way to get vehicles different from allocation is dealer swap.

At any rate, each dealer is different, I called about 6 different dealerships before I got what I was asking for. Shop around, good luck!

I tried to order a '22 TRDP but was unable (the whole allocation does not equal order thing mentioned earlier). Ended up getting a '21 Venture at MSRP.

Does anyone actually own a 2022 4runner TRD pro? Do they exist or are they just a figment of our imagination? We put a deposit down on one last week in Tampa, citrus green. They couldn’t tell us any time frame on delivery.

Update, dealers are marking even the basic models up…not just the Pro. I think I’m just gonna sit tight for awhile, watch the marketplace.

I suspect the production cuts Toyota has announced will force dealers to add market adjustments to all models (not just 4Runners). Many dealers are struggling now (selling every vehicle they receive) at MSRP and if you cut production another 30-50%, they're going to have to adjust to simply survive.

I put a deposit down on a 2021 Lunar Rock Pro about this time last year, and it arrived at the dealership in January.

I'm located in Seattle, WA and most of the dealerships were taking orders here. I picked one of them and I placed an order 2022 TRD off-road premium back on August 14th, and they told me it's supposed to come 10/30 next week. It seems too soon but hopefully, it does!

Yes, they were at MSRP. I had bought 2 Rav4s from the salesman so I created a good relationship with him so he knew I didn't want any BS. And chose to come back to buy this 4Runner with him.
Just called the dealership today and they said my 4Runner arrived at the Port of Portland 10/6, and it can take about 1-3 weeks to get to freight status and delivered to the dealership.
I feel like the Lime Rush would be over MSRP since with everything going on, and being the new color! Good luck waiting, I was too impatient for mine.. haha

If you don’t need to buy a vehicle write away. I would be waiting for quite awhile. The writing is on the wall. You have no haggling power over them now. If they get one in any dealer can sell them at msrp or mark them up. And if you don’t buy it someone will. Just watched untamed you tube video at the dealership where they have the lime rush one $15,000 over msrp. No way. I’m here from other posts on the tundra forum where Toyota dealers can even order any due to not able to get the parts.

If your trading in, it’s not that bad. I haven’t worked out the details yet, but I’m looking to get close to what I paid for my 2017 Tacoma. I figure high inflated trade in value equals MSRP pricing.

There is alot of ways to look at this.

I landed on 4Runners because the purchase price will always be near MSRP. I am a ORP buyer and the dealers within 50 miles of me want 5-12K over MSRP depending on color.

I needed a coupe vehicles. My son totaled a car in June 2021 and I let 2 roll off lease in March and July of 2020 without replacing. In April of 2020 I was close to replacing one with an Explorer. A Ford dealer I have bought from in the past had over 200 on the lot and all were discounted 14K.

I could buy an Explorer now from MSPR, but why when last year it was 14K off. I think the 4Runner is safe money in this market condition, even with a looming redesign.

I traveled 120 and 250 miles from home and bought 2 ORP's at MSRP.

The kicker on the second was Carvana gave me stupid money for a Honda my middle son was driving. BTW, State Farm gave me 4.1K more on the totaled car than I paid for it brand new 3 years earlier.

Just hard to see how buying a 2022 4runner at MSRP is going to get you hurt in this market.

I think if you work it in a normal market you can get invoice on a 4Runner, but I don’t know this for sure. I did get my 2017 Tacoma for invoice, so that’s why I believe it was possible pre shortage.
But your accurate with the 4Runner being a good purchase even at MSRP, trade in or resale has always been great on these, it was always tough to buy a slightly used (few years old, 100k or so miles) versus new because of how the hold value.

some might say, it’s a good investment in this market, they are increasing in value once you drive them off the lot.

I'm new to the forum. We ordered a 2021 4Runner TRD Premium back at the end of April. Dealership called us few months after we placed our order to tell us that it would be easier to get a hold of a 2022 and that we would likely be waiting a year for a 2021 with everything I wanted. (This was before the 2022's were even on the website.) So we went with the 2022. It was a very long process. We just got our 4runner a few days ago.

Oh, If anyone is interested to know the 2021 TRD Premium does NOT come with remote start which was a disappointment. The Toyota app doesn't let me unlock the doors, turn on or locate the vehicle. I assumed a Premium would. I guess you need the JBL audio package for remote connect package. Entune app is no longer used.
