well kinda of...it was already sold. some guy from ca was flying in to pick it up. still pretty darn rare to see a manual LR TRD Pro Taco. sticker was $63500

 

Ow. $63k for a Tacoma is a hard pass, no matter how much you like to bang-shift them gears.

Having owned 3 Tacomas and 2 4Runners they are nothing alike. The 4Runners are unquestionably better built.

Insane price for a good looking but otherwise mediocre vehicle. I couldn't imagine choosing a Tacoma over a 4Runner.

 

I owned a 3rd gen tacoma double cab before and can confirm the 4runner is better bar none. I currently have a 1st gen tacoma extended cab with a 6foot bed and that trucks the bees knees

The TRD PRO tax is out of control. Who in their right mind is going to pay that much for a Tacoma? If it came with Kings, supercharger, 285 MT's, and full armor maybe.

 

I would love to have a Tacoma TRDPRO manual for around 44K. Trust you paid around the same price not 63K.

That’s almost twice what I paid for my 2019 TRD OR double cab when I bought it new.

 

Sad part is a lot of people buy the pro thinking there getting something that’s best. Simply because they don’t know. I have on my rig or on order full overland bumpers with swing outs and winch. Lift full skids, sliders gobi rack and I’m still in it for less than a pro. About to order ecgs 4.88 assembly’s with arb lockers and I’m still gonna be in it cheaper than a pro

 

Personally owning a 4Runner TRD Pro I can tell that its "better suspension" is no where near as a high end suspension which is much less money than the high price tag. Same story with skids as well. I prefer aftermarket skid with maintenance cutout. Toyota deciding to use high beam in the same projector housing big time failure. TRD ORP with separate bulb giving options to upgrade to LED are way better. Don't want to argue more but for me personally buying TRD Pro not worth the extra price tag.

 

Right, I’m not saying anyone’s wrong with buying one there just way over priced in my opinion. I just know I wouldn’t ever buy one bc everything that makes the pro difference I would completely replace building it. That’s why I got the sr5. Because the e locker and crawl control wasn’t enough to make me get the off-road. Having ran both e locker and air locker. The roll back/ one wheel revolution before the e locker engages is a pain on technical rock where your having to stop go and roll back etc to adjust your line., to much lag as to where an air locker is in weather you roll back or not. But that being said. The average person who doesn’t want to build one it’s probably not a bad buy for a pro if you can find a decent buy. Bc even cheap lifts etc can cost you a lot if you can’t do all your work your self and end up having to pay a shop

The Trd Pro Taco with 6 speed manual Been there had one great truck did off road really good however on Road it was oh just OK that was it just OK yes MPG was great but Towing my boat? Nope not so good when it came to the Up hill sections and Passing on the highway? really had to plan that out.

 

Anyone here ever notice in Hawaii how Taco's have a huge presence out there? I mean, like HUGE.

 

15K "market adjustment" (aka a nice way to spell out rip off)... then 300 for Nitrogen in the tires. This is the definition of scumbagery. Why would anybody pay 2 bucks extra for nitrogen in an offroad vehicle when you inflate/deflate constantly? Greed has no limits, we should have a list of all dealers that exploit the market conditions.

On another note, there must be a market for this insanity, otherwise they won't do that...

 

In a way there is. Also, this *could* build a practice of fiscal responsibility for a few generations too. Here's my theory.

We are sold the myth that we want to have the nicest, the best, the most modern X (doesn't matter what it is...so it's X). Those with disposable income require instant gratification. They envision themselves driving that Tacoma up to the mountain, having a commercial grade adventure.

But they get a flat, it's hot and dirty, and you've stuck with 6 years of $1000/mo payments before you even manage to mod it, and where' the fun in NOT modding.

Eventually, we learn that just because there's a shortage doesn't mean we need what is in short supply. Maybe we need a Tacoma, but that's a 33% market hike to the MSRP that might not exist in 2 - 3 years. You'll still owe $35k on that truck in 3 years, which might be closer to what a Offroad is going for new.

What if...and this is my theory....what if, just like in the Great Depression, and during WW2, that our current living generations learn we don't need all that, and be thankful for what we have? Maybe chasing the dragon is a good way to get us to buy something we don't need, but maybe we don't even need the dragon?

Those of us who have/had parents that lived through the Great Depression know how many decades it took for that frugal mentality, shall we say, to turn back into the current 'gotta have it at any cost' way of life.

 

Jesus Christ that’s a rip off. A local dealer to me had a black manual pro for 45,xxx and it sat for a few weeks before it sold and that was a month ago.

my Tacoma pro I put a deposit on is in the 48,xxx range. Can’t believe these dealer markups.

 

The Predator steps alone, are worth the sticker price. Lol.

Just buy the Pro stickers and put them on your SR5 and call it a day.

Nobody will know the difference or care, except those on the Toyota forums.
