Are there any other Taco defectors on here?

I have been completely satisfied with my 2014 DCSB SR5 4x4 Taco, aside from the usual ghost rattles that late model Tacos seem to get. However, there is something about the 4Runner that turns my head every time. I have a Leer cap on my truck so it's basically an SUV with the cargo area separated from the cabin. Combine that with the MUCH nicer interior and I'm sorely tempted.

So, are there any current or former Taco owners here, and what are your thoughts? Is the T4R as much nicer as I have convinced myself that it is?

If I were to buy one it would be a SR5 4x4 or a TE.

I recently traded in my 2014 Off Road 4x4 for a 2016 SR5 4x4 and could not be happier. It is such a nicer vehicle and drives amazing compared to the Tacoma. It honestly feels like such a better quality vehicle. They are 100% Japan made in the same factory as the Land Cruiser, they share the same platform. I just feel like the quality of vehicle that comes out of that plant is far superior than my old Mexico made Tacoma. My kids love the reclining second row, and they have way more leg room. 3 kids back there without complaints is nice.

    I went from this.

I am finally 100% happy with my vehicle, love the thing actually.

I just traded my Tacoma in as well. Everything that @karmatp said is true, it really is a much nicer driving experience for everyone in the vehicle.

I agree with all you guys. Dealer says they want my '14 DCSB4x4TRDOR, 6-sp and ARE topper for their used lot. Ima gonna do it.
Provided they can set me up with a '16 TE 4x4 in Nautical Blue.

    Steve

I dig those Matte Gray TRD wheels too.

I had a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD. I really liked the truck. But I decided to buy a 2016 4Runner SR5 4WD. Much better vehicle. The 2016 Tacoma's might be OK but the 4Runner is much nicer than my 2015 Tacoma.

    Hi,

This is my 1st post here, but a long-time TacomaWorld member, with the same username. I chose a base 4Runner TE MGM over the 2016 Taco. I take delivery in 3 weeks.

I tested the Taco in A/T and M/T but just couldn't pull the trigger. The A/T was hunting all the time, and while the M/T was OK, I couldn't decide on the Taco after reading all the negative threads on the 3rd gen.

The 4Runner will be my daily driver. I travel 60 miles/day, 4 days a week. The heaviest I pull is my 6x10 enclosed motorcycle trailer. I'll also be hauling music equipment for gigs from time-to-time.

I probably should have posted on the New Member thread, but this thread caught my attention.

Love that silver with the Pro wheels!

I am in my 3rd Tacoma and 5th small Toyota truck.

I am hoping to get the wife by the dealer today to test drive a 4Runner to see what all the hype is about. A few weeks ago she got to ride around in a 2013 Limited while dress shopping for a friends wedding and she said it was great. Better feeling than any Honda or Toyota she had been in.

    I'm game for sure.

I went from at 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport which was my 4th Tacoma to a 2016 TRD Pro. I like the 4 RUNNER much better.

Well I test drove one and LOVED it, Honestly it was my first time EVER in a 4Runner.

Wife had to work so she couldn't go with me. I am very impressed and am really liking it. We are thinking a 2017 TE base, We can't afford to keep her home if we have a baby with the Premium, lol... Although we might be able to work something out as I found out I am right side up if I trade in my Tacoma by almost 5K which helps.

Although I want the sunroof and she wants the seat heaters, hahaha...

I went from a 2015 Tacoma POS that was bought back by the manufacture and got a 4runner trail, love it and would never go back, the quality is outstandingly better, no squeaks rattles or lose parts, rides a lot better too

The leaf springs and bushings kept wearing out even after replaceing numrous times, metal was still rubbing on metal making a god awful noise that made everyone stop and stare

That's crazy. I would be annoyed at that too. I'm glad Toyota took care of the issue.

I'm test driving my 4Runner today. I'm excited.

I traded my '08 Tacoma and picked up a 2016 trail premium last week. I am absolutely in love with this thing, I almost regret not doing it earlier.

I am in the same boat. I had a 2016 Taco TRD OR Inferno with a level kit I installed, steps and tonneau cover. But the lack of space was harsh. So I traded for a 16 SR5 Premium with some upgrades. Best decision we have made all year.

After my level kit, ICI Magnum steps and cover was installed.

You guys are killing me with all this Tacoma to T4R talk!

    Argh...

Maybe the wife and I will just get her a 4Runner and I'll keep my little 4 cyl 5-spd Tacoma, LOL...

lol your previous post was similar to my situation. I was right side up in the trade. I will say if you can swing the difference, the SR5 Premium is really awesome. I traded the wheels for the ones that are on it at the dealership. It was part of the deal. Sticker was just under $37k. We live in Georgia and the prices seem to be a bit better in my area than what I have seen elsewhere.

Why the SR5 and not a TE?

    Just curious.

And yes, the best prices I have ever seen are at my dealer where my Tacomas have come from.

To be honest, I drove a Limited, trail, and an SR5. For what bit of off roading I do, the suspension on the SR5 was good to go. I knew I wanted black wheels with beadlock and BFG ko2's. So for the money the sr5 made the most sense, and it came with a form of leather and a sunroof, which made the wife happy.

That and I really didn't like the silver part on the front bumper.

I think the SR5 is perfect also. You have 4x4, DAC and ATRAC, which is amazing. You don't have the fake scoop which is blinding in the AZ sun and the front silver bumper is kinda off to me. I found the SR5 to be the perfect vehicle for me. I am all about paying for what I use and not paying for options I will never use.

I didn't realize they had the ATRAC and DAC...

I'll need to check out the SR5 offerings a little closer.

Made the switch. Very happy with the new rig!

I went SR5 because everything the TE offers, I would have upgraded anyway so why pay? Locker, suspension, etc, all would be swapped.

    Looks great man,

I'm loving this thread for all the wrong reasons, hahaha

Seems I may be better served with an SR5 premium.
