Firstly, Ford isn't Toyota. They prioritize features and power over dependability and durability. Not really a shocker honestly. I'm sure they will regroup and improve.

Second, something good happens it's bragging. Something bad you tell 10x more people. Most of the issues that are legitimate will be shouted from the rooftops.

I bought my 2nd 4Runner and 5th Toyota knowing the Bronco will look cooler and perform better offroad from the factory, but I don't require validation that I bought the right vehicle because only I care if it suits my needs.

I will watch with interest the issues the Bronco faces and hope Ford works them out, but the post original post seems more of a "watch them burn" kind of sentiment. The Bronco is a very ambitious and well thought out platform. I want to see them succeed, if nothing other than make Toyota take notice and make Jeep improve quality.

This is all so predictable. The 'gotta have it now crowd' overpaying for a first year UAW built car and getting an inferior product. People, if you must buy UAW, for heavens sake don't pay MSRP to get the privilege of being a beta tester.

This definitely sucks for the people who ordered and waited for these vehicles. I sure hope they can get the bugs worked out quickly.

I'm surprised by the threads about 2.7 issues. I thought that was a pretty solid engine. My brother has an F150 with the 2.7 and it's been fine so far.

They have modified it in some odd way for sure. TFL did a 0-60 and while the Bronco was heavier than the F150 it was like 30% slower. Still claiming same HP/TQ but that's really strange.

I too was confused by the 2.7 issues. It's been around since like 2015 I think and been in millions of F150s. There were big problems early one but I think most resolved by 2018.

That's exactly what every domestic defender says.

Yet when you point out that when you go to a Toyota forum and see 1/20th of the amount of threads about things breaking, they can't admit that it has nothing to do with their ill-conceived excuse, but that Ford, Dodge, Chevy, etc are simply less reliable and not built as well as Toyota. It's a fact that many people simply can't accept.

I would love a Jeep Wrangler. But they are unreliable and where I travel off-road, a breakdown could be fatal. I would love it if Ford was nearly as good as Toyota. I was a die-hard Ford guy since I was 15 years old and bought my first car, a 1970 Ford Torino. I would love to get a new Bronco. But they just aren't as good as the 4Runner in terms of reliability and durability.

It's not about hate, it's about facts and reality.

To be fair, you're not posting a screen shot of the "general forum" page.

You're posting a screen shot of the "Issues-repairs-warranty-tsb-recalls" page.

You could go to any vehicles forum page with that title and see a whole slew of issues.

Here's a pic from the general forum:

I never stated that it was the general page. The fact remains that there are a ton of minor and some major issues cropping up after just a month or so of these things being on the street.

Does this forum have a "Issues-repairs-warranty-tsb-recalls" page? No? Ever wonder why?

You might be surprised to know that I agree completely.

I bought my 4Runner not because I'm a Toyota Fanboy, but because they created the Toyota Production System, utilize Kaizen and Six Sigma practices. Their production ability to build quality in instead of quality checking afterwards (they do both, most do the latter) is exactly why I trust the machine to do it's job so I can go remote places and come back.

We all want to watch our team win, but that's a function of Ego. Toyota wins not because of ultranationlism or some ego, they win because their science and process is simply superior. In a provable, measurable way.

There aren't a lot, but look up wheel vibration, needle bearing in front diff, TSS and lifting issues, and some Entune infotainment systems stuff. They exist in all brands. The 4Runner is an old platform and most bugs are worked out.

But you aren't wrong, we make larger issues of those smaller issue because we don't have larger issues to make mountains out of. Our engines and powertrains make poor power but last forever. The thing doesn't rattle even when I beat it offroad relentlessly. I get what you're saying.

I'm mainly opposed to these threads because it's a way to assert superiority over something at the expense of that thing, so it's a philosophical point of view really. I know I have a better built vehicle, I don't need the internet to validate that so I feel better about my choice.

You're implying that we don't have an "Issues-repairs-warranty-tsb-recalls" page because we don't have any (or enough) issues to warrant one.

We don't have that page simply because the creators of this forum didn't add one. If we did, you would find pages worth of issues. Remember that fuel pump recall? 50mph wobble?

I'm not saying they'd be issues with the same severity, but issues none the less.

Here's a different 4runner forum with an "issues" page:

Facts and reality are largely anecdotal on internet discussion forums. Little rigor in actual research.

Anecdotal Jeep story: I drove a stock JK Wrangler to Panama and back with zero issues. Not even a flat. Side trips through the jungle of Guatemala and Costa Rica. Was a diesel Landcruiser the preferred truck? Sure, did I have the time and money to buy a new-ish one? No. Did I help plenty of Toyota people with dead vehicles? Yup.

The reality? Everything breaks. Everything. Just be prepared.

I always jokingly but seriously thank Chevy for my mechanic skills. If I had not owned one I'd really not have the experience I have today.

Ha! In my case, I bought several cheap, high mileage vehicles when I was young. And, did motor swaps on 2 of them. The MR2 was the most interesting.

I think having a POS car or 2 in your younger days builds character.

I’m coming from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has 210k miles on the Hemi engine. I’m losing out on panoramic, cooled leather seats, heated steering wheel, digital dash, air ride suspension, etc because I see the writing on the wall with the Jeep. Now, I was fortunate to buy my Jeep when they had offered a maxcare lifetime bumper to bumper warranty on it, but it’s been in the shop plenty of times And I mean plenty. At 120k miles I had a 8k engine repair bill that only cost me $100 deductible because of that warranty. At 200k though, I started getting a hard time with them denying my warranty on swaybar bushings and engine mounts replacement from “wear and tear” even though it’s listed as covered under warranty.
It was in the shop twice within the first 4 months of ownership. First time, I kid you not, was because the drivers side headlight and windshield wipers stopped working 3 days into ownership. Second was for a head unit replacement. Countless other times that my warranty replaced but I don’t want to live in fear anymore of things just breaking. I didn’t even bother trying to have them fix the leather stitching on the dash that’s warped, or the knocking that still remains over bumps, or the x,y,z other things.

No way I’d have trusted Ford or Jeep on a new model in the Bronco or Jeep’s new Grand Cherokee L which is now pushing 70k loaded. No way.

I couldn't have said the above, any better...new production models, especially one that has been 'rebooted', always tends to have some initial issues..and early on, some glitches rear their ugly heads...It's up to FORD, to how they respond to these 'new' problems, and what they do to resolve 'em quickly...I had a similar issue years ago, when I bought my Pontiac Solstice (2006) and early on, the Solstice had some issues as well...and pontiac quickly addressed them..of course, later models were rock solid. I suspect later models will play out the same way...and enjoy robust sales...I'm wishing much success for the re booted Bronco..

It's the first year a brand new model.

There are always quite a few fixes to be applied, for any vehicle.

Upon some extensive reading around on that forum, a few things stood out - apparently the removable hard tops (referred to as the MIC top, whatever that is) are causing a ton of issues - not fitting, delaminating, etc. - there's several threads on that, it seems to be the most common thing posted about issues on. When I got a first-off-the-line redesigned 2007 JK Rubicon in 2006, I never had one problem with that 3-piece hard top in the 6 years I owned it. There's a lot of grief over that top, apparently made by a company called Webaster. No one has much confidence in it lasting, and wonders how it even got through the QC process at Ford.

The best quote found on one of the top threads:

"This is rapidly devolving from a shitfest to a laughfest....even after a year's wait I don't think I'll buy a "magic-marker" Bronco. (Dealer had fixed missing color on top with a black magic marker) Instead of being Ford's salvation, Bronco might easily become an anchor around Ford's neck as they circle the drain."

It seems the Bronco owners can be just as brutal as some others - one guy's front axle broke on a flat gravel road, and you wouldn't believe all the grief he got as to 'user error', 'abusing the rig', etc. I mean c'mon, it was in 4-LO on a gravel road...

Some on that forum have not yet gotten their Broncos, and are seriously wondering if they really want one.

Some are worse than others. First year 4runners weren't nearly as bad as this, neither were Tundras.

I think it is conceivably possible to break a front CV axle on a parking lot if you have it in full lock, low range, and the front differential locked if you give it enough power really quick. But I don’t know if you’re either extremely stupid or know exactly what you’re doing and are doing it intentionally.

This was his description of the circumstances:

Specs: 4 door, Badlands, 2.7, lux, tow package .

Issue: Broken front passenger axle at CV joint. Repair was Ford replacement of both front axles. Will take 5 to 10 days to get the parts.

Update: I was in 4L and lockers were not engaged.

350KM after picking up my dream machine that took a year to arrive, it was on the back end of a tow truck with a broken front right axle heading back to the dealer for repair. The axle broke on a flat loose gravel parking lot at less than 5 km/hr with no load on it , while I was testing out (showing off) the 4 wheel cameras to my better half.

I have been a 4x4 enthusiasts for over 30 years and broken many axle as such I have learned not to full lock. The intent of the post was to see if this was an issue others have had. I am glad to hear it isn't.

My brother is waiting for his Bronco. Keeps being delayed due to the black hard top. He's told Ford to go sh!t in their hat as far as taking delivery now with a soft top. Hopefully it's in his best interest to take delivery sometime next year and some of the bugs will be worked out by then. They are cool though.
