Yes I know can you imagine waiting months on your order only to find out your 4R or truck got destroyed on the rail.

I wonder if they will try to sell those at MSRP versus above?

I hope mine is off the train by now. Supposed to be here between the 21st and 26th.

I hope so Rino924, I would give your dealer a call. They can locate exactly where your vehicle is the USA during transport. My dealer was kind enough to call me every few days telling what state mine was in.

Oddly, not the first time this has happened. Trains can't drive in bad weather now?

Exactly two years ago today (July 19, 2019), a trail derailed in Nevada. It was carrying a bunch of new vheicles.

What happens to the crashed vehicles from the train wreck?

I assume Toyota writes them off as total loss, but what about the vehicles. Do they end up in junk yards nearest to the crash? Do they call every local tow company to haul them away?

I imagine there are a ton of good parts to be had.

From what I hear they are crushed so they cannot be sold elsewhere.

I’m interested to see what I could get for my 4R just to have extra cash for home renos. It’s a 2020 TRDOR mgm with 25k miles, Gobi stealth rack, Alpharexx lights. KBB say I could get around 45k. That would be nice considering I bought it for 37.5k and owe less than 15k. Has anyone sold theirs recently with similar specs?

Mods don’t necessarily add value unless it’s the right buyer.

with that said, I paid 29k for mine last year with 20k miles and today it’s worth 37.5k with 49,200k miles.

True.. I think the Gobi rack would add value considering the wait times but I know what you mean. I may see what carvana or Carmax offers. I would think it would be in the high 30’s as well.

I recently sold my '17 TRDORP with 48K miles for $42.5 (private party) within a week of listing. Vroom was offering $40K. I believe KBB trade-in was ~$37-$38K if I recall.

I'll be back. I'm just waiting for the 2022's ;). Hopefully prices will have calmed down by then.

Take the rack off and sell it to someone who specifically wants one. You can probably sell it for exactly what you paid for it, I'm sure someone would pay full list just to avoid the 2 year or whatever exorbitant lead time they have.

Wont hurt to find out. I traded a 19 taco for +$7000 on a Tundra TRDPro, then ended up trading that with about 5-600 miles for +$6000 on the 4runner. Few more deals, and I'm going to have a free truck.

Texted my rep yesterday to ask about an updated ETA. Wanted to make sure it wasn't on the train lol!

Could arrive today (20th)-22nd. Hoping I can drive down and get it on Friday if all goes to plan.

    I think that’s a great price. Dealers aren’t paying $50k for a off-road premium lol that’s what trd pro’s are getting

I ran it through carvana and vroom so many times over the last few months and that was the highest offer I ever got. We got to drive it for nearly a year and got paid a bit for it. MSRP was 46,130 I believe. My hope is that we can drag our feet for a few months and then replace it with a 2022. We'll see how it goes.

Y’all I deeply regret selling mine. (I got over 5k more than I paid for my 2020 SR5p a few months back) my plan had always been to see what the 6th gen was going to be and either get one of those or snatch up the last of the 5ths, so it seemed like a good idea to cash out while I could. But I wish I hadn’t.

So far, I'm enjoying the GX I replaced it with. I do miss the "new" of the 4Runner, and the old infotainment on the 2011 GX makes Entune look futuristic in comparison. It does work, even if the graphics are Win3.1 level.

    Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased.

On the bright side, no more dealing with the 4.0! I doubt the 4.6 is much faster, but I bet it at least makes much better noises, lol.

I took was planning on selling my 4th gen Runner and buying a new hybrid 6th gen when they hit the market. But with all the delays, I'm glad I held onto my current. Going to make it last until the 6th gen come out, no matter what. That will give me more time to save up money for all the extras I plan to throw on it.

How is the V8? I have read that one of the best things about the older LS vehicles is that the V8 is so smooth. GX is a different V8, but wondering if it’s similar in that respect.

It definitely still sounds like a Toyota truck engine! You can feel the difference in the torque, and while it may not be noticeably faster, it doesn't have to work as hard to get up to speed. Very smooth overall, but I wasn't bothered by the V6. To really get the V6 to GO, you had to mash the pedal.

Does that mean it sounds like something is broken internally?

Torque is good. The lack thereof is what really disappoints me abut the 4.0. Like you said, you have to really drive it like you hate it to make it "go".

Oh not at all, it just has that familiar fan sound when the engine is still cold. It's definitely a muted exhaust note overall, I could use it sounding slightly more aggressive, but I know that's not what Lexus is aiming for.

Damn it. The 4Runner god is punishing me!!!
My car is in the shop and look what loaner car I have for the weekend. 2021 gray runner with 350 miles on the clock. Drove it 20 minutes now and man, wished I kept mine!

Agreed. Once you have owned a 4R, getting a loaner does cause this. Opposite experience here. I dropped the 4R off for the Billstein/Airbags/Level and they put me into a Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan. Ugh.

The 2018 SR5 Prem I sold to AutoNation in May is still available for sale. Their current asking price is $3 more than they paid for the T4R. Glad I sold and upgraded when I had the chance.

Sure glad I traded in my 2010 FJ Cruiser for my 2021 TRD/ORP/MR when I did. Got the 4R for 42K and over 50% trade of what I paid for the FJ new.
By the way, have you seen the asking prices for FJ's ? Especially low-mile examples.
