Unusual 6112 situation/question

    I purchased 6112s/5160s from caliraised off road who surprisingly had them in stock and got them installed at 88 rotors today. The tech pointed out the 6112s are for the 3rd gen tacoma (even said so on the box) he said it still fit and the only issue is the 4runner 6112s have 7 notches and the taco has 6, had them set it at the top notch.

    I called caliraised and they apologized and said the sku system messed up but they would swap them out for me next month (their earliest appointment).

    It was already installed by the tech at this point and I told the tech and he told me to keep them since the taco 6112s come with a heavier spring rate so in the long run it would be better. He suggested I get the dobinson 1/4 shim and 15mm rear shim to compensate for the lean.

    I called caliraised and they told me that would work and if I wanted to go that route just to do the rear shim since the stiffer springs up front already give it an higher lift so he thought adding the 1/4 shim might make the front too tall. He did say I can still swap them out for the correct struts.

    I'm leaning to just keep the current setup and adding the rear 15mm shim but skipping out the front 1/4shim as suggested by caliraised, does that work or would I have potential problems?

    I would like to point out caliraised offered to even drop off the correct struts at 88 rotors but the new shocks were already in and if I do go the shim route they told me to bring it in and they'll cover the install so I'm pretty satisfied with their customer service particularly morgan

    6112s are made for 4Runners. Guess what was the actual part #.

    And why not adjust the setting on the lean side to fix? I think thats what some have done instead of using shims.

    I had my icons adjusted so no lean but mine is adjustable and not just a notch setting.

    The Tacoma only has 6 notches the 4runner ones have 7 (for the lean)

    So not ok to go 5 and 6 notches?

    I think it would still look ok.

    I thought about that honestly but just like in the bedroom, lord knows even a nanometer helps! I already ordered the rear 15mm shim so hopefully that sovles my potential issue

    I actually wasn't planning on lifting it at all but I was surprised how low the stock ground clearance is especially with kdss. I don't plan to wheel it hard at all, just some mild stuff to get me to my off the beaten path camping spots so even an inch makes a huge difference (that's what she said)

    I would get the shim/spacer. The reason to not preload the shock is for a better ride and off road performance, you already have the longer springs for the purpose of the lift. Going up notches will make the ride firmer. I only did the front .25” spacer, nothing in the rear and notice no sagging or lean. Using the notches defeats the purpose when you have longer aftermarket springs IMO.
