Lake Mead down to 36% capacity. The SW US is in the worst drought in 1200 years, supposedly.

    I'm old, but can't confirm that. ;)

Makes me wonder. Which will come first?

The 'BIG ONE' or empty reservoirs. :notsure:

I mean the snow pack disappeared much earlier this year, I keep hearing the reservoirs are at 50% capacity, and I don’t recall so little rain in the winter rainy season since coming to California.

I'm not saying it hardly ever rains here in "The Skillet", but when it does, it's measured in millimeters, not inches.

I was driving up highway 5 near Mt.Shasta, they have a lot of lakes up there and they are all basically empty. There were docks that were 40 feet away from the water line, there were people driving on what should be the lake floor to launch boats, new land bridges to islands that should be far into the lake.

This photo above is old, the water line is way lower, and that island has an even wider land bridge connecting it to the new shore.
To make things worse it looks like we are going to have another historically bad wild/urban fire season. This time I don't even know if we'll have enough water to fight it, there is talk of many of the reservoirs being too low to pump water out of. Really no point in trying to make residents believe that things will improve, in the near future California will have to figure out a way to source water from other states in a similar fashion to how LA has the LA aqueduct to get water. This problem won't go away, even if we had 1 year of rain it does nothing when you have 4 straight years of drought.

Upon further reading both the photos are old. Hard to tell which historic drought a photo is of when every year is a historic drought

    It's crazy.

This has been happening long enough that there should be at least back-up desalination systems throughout California by now.

Expensive? Yes, but a guaranteed water source during times like these........which are inevitable.

But no one wants to pay for infrastructure projects like this anymore, so we fall back on getting our water from rain and snow (which continues to dwindle) and the CO river (which is also dwindling).

I’m still waiting for governor hair gel to get on the TV and tell us not to flush our toilets or take showers.

The drought is really going to play hell with our super green hydroelectric bullshit.

Thanks! It's up and running:cool:(bad capacitor). The unit is getting long in the tooth for my liking, but my A/C guy says it's a quality unit and has a few years of life left in it. :notsure: lol

Funny, mine went out the other day, also with a bad capacitor. Thankfully was replaced under warranty. (Compressor is less than 5 years old I think). I was stumped as to why I wasn't getting cold air, since both the compressor and the furnace fan were running. But then I realized that the compressor fan may have been spinning, but the rest of the unit was quiet -- no compressing going on. The repair guy figured that out immediately, replaced the capacitor, which was bulging a bit, and Voila.

Sucks to hear, but it's not at all uncommon for them to go out during the first heat wave of the year. They sit all winter without getting much if any use, and then take a dump at the first sign of stress.

For the third time in recorded history, the Valley once again tied the hottest day ever at 123 degrees.

As if that wasn't enough, 150 people are currently without power from an apparent micro burst, which left 3 power poles looking like this.

If June is a sign of things to come weather wise across the US, we're in for a doozy of a summer;)

On the light side. Washing a vehicle in this heat speeds up drying time but, with our water being as hard as it is, it's like washing with sandpaper.:(
