Toyota quality getting bad? 2021 TRDPro

    My brandnew 2021 TRD Pro seems to be having bad alignment from factory.
    Good thing I got experience with multiple 4runners and knew something is not right.

    I've got a question, when I'm at the dealership, I've noticed that they put those things in your picture on the front wheels as soon as the customer pulls in the service bay.

    How does that work?

    Cause the car is not even in the alignment bay? Yet.

    I’m sure it came just fine from the factory, and whatever alignment issues are related to the suspension lift that is installed at port by monkeys with hammers.

    I don't have any idea on alignment but I really felt it's not normal when I drive. So I stop by at Les Schwab tire shop near my house. The manager knows my wife so initially they said they will check it first and figure out the alignment is off. Even they were surprised to have almost factory fresh car with bad alignment.

    The first thing I do when I get a new vehicle is have an alignment done by a trusted tire shop. It's $75 well spent.

    This doesn't really reflect on Toyotas quality as much as the team that slaps the fox shocks on once the vehicle reaches the US.

    They don't have TRD pro as a spec in your sheet, they are lifted over the other models, so any chance it had Correct specs for a lifted pro vs the non lifted off road model?

    Honestly I have no clue on alignment specs. Here's a comparison of my 2021 TRD Pro new alignment specs vs my 2018 TRD ORP with ELKA lift.

    BTW now I have more doubts on the quality of the TRD Pro and wish I got the TRD ORP and demand to pay for the lift by the dealership (If you haven't seen my old post I got the TRD Pro because the dealership crashed my lifted TRD ORP while they return the vehicle after service.).

    Now I have another point why not to get TRD Pro. Looks like 4x4 shops near me like Toytec do far better quality job than Toyota TRD Pro techs.

    Wow! Some of you are hard to please.

    These things can easily fall out of alignment boarding a ship to cross the ocean, crossing the ocean, disembarking a ship that has just crossed an ocean, boarding a truck or a train to transport across the country, disembarking a truck or train that has just traveled across the country, and being driven during a test drive on a multitude of shitty roads around dealerships across the country.

    Oh, and the aforementioned suspension change the Pro receives at port.

    Man, you've had some bad luck. Is the dealership that wreaked your ORP the same one that setup your Pro?

    So the Pro suspension is installed after it is delivered to the U.S?

    Agreed. An alignment can get knocked out of spec many ways. I figured it would end up out of spec after they swap out the shocks. I wonder if the check the alignment after the conversion.

    Correct. A PRO arrives in the US as an Off-Road Premium, basically. They swap out the shocks and slap on some badges and a grill and that's about it.

    I'm not 100% sure on that. I've heard the newer ones have dual climate control like a limited, so it's possible they got the Limited seats as well.

    Yes the seats are same as TRD Offroad. Same heating controls.

    Only Limited has leather seats with both heated and ventilated.

    I’ve read through the comments here but I just wanted to share my experience. I got a brand new ‘21 TRD Pro in March. I noticed immediately that my rig was pulling to the right on a straight road with no crown. I took it in and the Toyota technicians confirmed the pull. They alighted the rig back to spec and all is fine now. The only pull I am getting now is from the KO2s. I had the same pull with my previous rig. I can share my alignment sheet later on if you’d like.

    Love to see your specs and see how each shop align these. It's very strange a specific tire causing your vehicle to be pulled to a side. I thought bad tires can only cause vibration. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Not quite. The Pro has dual zone climate control. The only other 4Runner that has that is the Limited.

    My bad, I thought the question was about seats. That's why I mentioned it has only heated seats just like ORP and only Limited got "Dual control" seats, heated and ventilated.

    Yes, on the HVAC Pro has dual controls like Limited.

    I may have read it wrong too so no worries.

    If I could get the dual zone climate control on a standard Off Road I wouldn't be buying the Pro.
