Have had the truck for a few weeks, knew it was a matter of time but man...it only has 500km on it...

Looks like another car's door left this. Its on my rear passenger door. Its pretty small but it show up pretty well in direct sunlight on black paint.

Best course of action here? Touch up paint? Trying not to lose my mind.

Dang, if I had a dollar for every one of those scratches I have on mine:rofl:

if it bothers you that much get some touch up paint from the dealer, and then park far away from everyone in parking lots.

Might have to wait a few days before I can get my hands on touch up (busy week).

Are chips like this liable to rust? Its basically a brand new truck I just want to know if I can leave it for a bit or whether I shouldn't mess around,

I have tons of those, don’t show any sign of rusting. It doesn’t look like it went through the paint coats, just dented and surface scratch from the picture. Just grab some detailing stuff and see what that does. Some people have no respect for others vehicles, it sucks.

Get same color code paint. Not from dealer, from car paint store. They should be able to provide 1/2 pint. Put them on. A little more.than it covers. Wait for 2 weeks. Color sand. Buff it with Hi-speed and wood pad. Polish.....

Some paint less dent removal guys my way do fantastic work. I am sure they are up there also. You would be amazed. Some are good at touch up paint also.

I have used Meguiars number 7 Polish on some light scratches followed by some wax. It just fills it in to prevent rust. Hard for me to see how bad it is in picture. Just wanted to share my knowledge though.

Too some better picture today since it was sunny. On second though this looks like it could be surface scratcg only and not a chip.. It doesn't feel very derp.

I bought a paint pen but I tgink itd look worse if I tried to fix it given its so small.

The Dr Colorchip system. Kind of expensive but it works well.

My advice is to try some Meguiars Scratch X with a Terry cloth towel. Use small circular motion and then try side to side and buff out.

Follow up with Meguiars number 7 Polish in same manner. This will help “fill it in”. Follow up with a wax of your choice.

I think this will help make your scratch look much improved.

I agree with this course of action. Don’t put paint on it, looks more like a scratch that could buff out

    Good luck Taco4R,

It would be great if our borders opened up again. My Dad is originally from Ottawa. It would be great to get back the Queens side as we say, do some fishing and drink some good beer again.

    Cheers!

Seems clear coat only, I would not worry about it. Wax it on top and it will go away.
It didnt even make it down to the paint.
Using paint touch-up will make it look worse.
I would not even do a scratch doctor treatment, just wax it on top once a year and you should be good.
You got a black vehicle, good luck ! I had two, never again !
