Just got my 2021 Pro last Sunday and I can obviously see that Toyota positioned the exhaust to where it angles out towards the passenger side (unlike my previous 2020 SR5 Premium, which went out the back).

I can also say for 100% certain that my 2021 Pro exhaust is definitely FAR louder than my 2020 SR5 Premium and it's kind of annoying. Any of you with 2021 Pros notice this and know what's up and, more importantly, does it get better with time or miles?

I have one and am not sure I like it. It’s definitely louder than I want to hear most of the time. Good news is someone will want it if you decide to remove it and sell

Just buy the OEM exhaust for the other models.

Trade it for a stock one. Thats what I did and the best thing I've done to the Pro.

Not my 4Runner but on my TX Baja (basically the predecessor to the TRD Pro) Tacoma I found some rube with a brand new Tacoma who wanted the 'Pro' exhaust... swapped him and made some $.

It's like the most annoying sound in the world... but there's always some idiot that thinks it's cool. Find your idiot (ironically on this very forum...)

It’s a catback exhaust. Google that term for details. It’s a different type of exhaust than other trim levels. It definitely sounds different, but it’s never bothered me. I’m at 5,000 miles, and it sounds a little more mellow to me now, but that could just be my ears getting used to it. I may be in the minority (at least in this thread so far), but I like it.

I too like the fact it's on the side so I won't crush it on trails. But sure the sound is annoying. My wife hates it on short drives we had not sure what happens on a long trip. Sure don't want to get headache with the continuous noise. Not sure why it has to be loud by turning towards passenger side vs straight. May be the TRD tip is what causes that annoying noise.

Can you just have a section re-welded by a shop so it goes out the back like OEM?

There are tons of people who will trade you a stock one for the Pro. I myself upgraded to the Pro and ignore the sound. My wife hates it but it’s my ride and it doesn’t bother me.

Lol I get that but at least it is going out the back vs the side.

After riding in a SR5, I’m ready to swap / sell my exhaust. Along with sell the roof rack, and do the rack delete. My loud and annoying exhaust days are over, especially on a V6.

I must be weird- I don't mind the Pro exhaust at all. Maybe since I had the TRD catback on my FJ prior to this :notsure:

I have only had the Pro for three weeks and find the exhaust drone to be tolerable. But if I had been given the choice to have the stock exhaust versus the Pro exhaust, I would choose the stock exhaust. My three boys like it of course!

Please accept my apologies if I offended your taste in exhaust noise, or impugned your intelligence. I retract my statement(s).

The TRD Pro exhaust is a finely tuned, performance apparatus, and those connoisseurs who operate with one are truly the creme de la creme of 4Runner enthusiasts. The rest of us are plebians, serfs to the stealth of the stock exhaust; knowing that there is something more out there, but it always being just out of reach.

Normally I would keep my fingers off the Keyboard and keep my comment to myself, coming right out and calling everyone who chooses the TRD Pro Exhaust as it is and Has no problem with it an "Idiot" certainly put the spotlight on yourself and the level of ignorance on full display a few things come to mind when one does that like this person must be having buyer's regret "I wish i had not brought the Pro... like the boss wife said not to" or "damn that's loud now I can't sneak home late at night" oh the list can go on and on so stop whinnying about and spend a little $$ get the exhaust the way you should have purchased it in the first place.
