Dealer has been waiting 2 weeks for an allocation to order my TRD OR w/KDSS.

Received an email today saying that the factory has suspended ALL factory orders nationwide until further notice.

Asked if it was just for 2021’s due to the model changeover and was told that no, it was the result of the overwhelming number of factory orders dealers are placing.

    We’ll see what happens . . .

That's a bummer for you, but makes perfect sense considering what's going on in the automotive world these days.

I have a buddy with what is thought to be actuator corrosion problem on his 4R. He was at dealer today and told same thing no more orders on 4Runners and also the Tundra's supposedly.

I'm thinking there's a period of time between MY21 order banks closing and MY22 opening and we've been in that period now for a bit.
I was looking buying a 21 but am now waiting for a 22. Thinking dealers could order mid June. And it would probably be prudent to order early.

Is model year 2022 the definitive final year for this generation 4Runner?

Not definitive, but there is some credible evidence out there that points to the 2023 model year being a 6th gen.

Glad we are set in our vehicles, even if the 6th gen comes out I would not buy one until the 2nd or 3rd year of the makeover, always problems to work out.

This is not really bad. Your used 4Runners may have jumped in what they are worth, if you would consider selling.

Just spotted a Bronco (not Sport) on the road yesterday. First regular Bronco I've seen. Reminded me when I was reading that the 21' Bronco had a one year back log of orders before the first production. So many people on the waiting list will be getting a 22' Model.

What's causing the feeding frenzy with the 4R's nationwide ? Imagine how difficult this must be for Toyota working on the 6th Generation, while the sales of the 11 year old 5th Generation are flying off the shelves. LOL What a dilemma.

I guess I was lucky. After they crashed my TRD ORP I got a 2021 TRD Pro within a week or 1.5 weeks (I forgot the exact time took to deliver) a month ago.

I am waiting on my 21 ORP to be delivered to dealer within next couple days. Ugh. Ordered on March 11 and now I am so glad I did then.

Just took a little while for people to warm up to the look of the 5th gen.

I remember thinking they looked ugly AF when they first came out, but my opinion changed over time.

I got a 2021 last week and noticed the amount of new 4Runners available in Arizona had declined drastically from when I first started looking in the spring. Plus, it really seemed to accelerate after May 10th as that supposedly was the last day for ordering 2021 builds.

I could never find many at dealers here in Arizona or at the dealership group I worked at back in Colorado that I'd retired from. I finally got one just by being in the right place at the right time where a customer ordered a unit but reneged when it hit the ground at the dealership.

Wow, the trend is/was definitely going up. I've probably seen at least a half dozen white 5th gens just in my neighborhood.

My buddy from the Midwest was visiting Washington state and he was amazed how many are out here in the West.

When I was shopping in 2018, our dealership probably had at least two dozen (all trims and colors) to choose from.

Today I don't think they have two that are available.

Another odd thing I noticed is that they had signs on their display models that said not for sale, display only.

Only got a quick glimpse of it traveling the opposite direction on the highway. So I'm guessing Ford is just starting to ship. It looked good for the three seconds I saw it. LOL

    All of them.
I was at the dealership we bought our two from in October get a once over before we head to Wyoming in two weeks. Not a single Tacoma, tundra, sequoia, or 4runner at all. Not even used. The dealer said they can even get one right now as soon as they try to order it’s already allocated to another dealership. And Toyota isn’t just mass producing right now. Not sure how true that is. But it was extremely weird to see their lot with nothing but camrys, one or two Supra’s (showroom) and a crap ton of highlanders. Pretty much every trim of Highlander you can think of and colors too.
