Jack stand recommendations?

I’m looking for a recommendation for jack stands to use while working on my new 2021 OR.

I have been shopping features and am not sure what lift height range will be best for the 4Runner. Some have an 11-16 range and others have 16-22.

I’m planning to lift my OR up to 2” so asking which lift range jack stand is going to be the best.

I would appreciate recommendations...

 

I use these. You just want a high-quality stand. 6-ton stands seem to have a height range that works well for trucks. Jack stands are something that can definitely be over-researched, sending you down all kinds of rabbit holes that make it hard to make up your mind. But bottom line, you want something that will hold your truck up safely. That's it. Don't overthink it.

Fun fact: Last summer, jack stands were really hard to find. They were like toilet paper.

Probably cheap but I love them

Highly recommend 6 tons - not because of the load capacity, but rather because of the lift height, and the wider base adds more stability.

Oh, and also don't use harbor freight stands, lol (after all the recalls they went through).

 

I got these. Heads up, you see the V at the top? You may need to grind part of it out with a bench grinder. Yeah, you shouldn't have to, but I'm happy with them anyway. Overkill? Perhaps. But they're ultra sturdy.

Get both, it's not like they are real expensive. You may not use one height range for a long time, then all of a sudden....

 

I use these. There’s a picture somewhere on t4r where someone was using 3 ton jack stands and they ended up bending, so spending a few more $$ for safety was worth it and these have a double locking feature for added safety was a must for me.

I have two sets of Hein-Werner 3-ton jack stands. They work just fine, and are tall enough to get the wheels off the ground. 6-ton stands are about twice the price, and not needed for a 4Runner. The 3-ton stands only put about 300 psi pressure on the concrete. The concrete in your garage is most likely way over 3000 psi strength, so no worries about cracking.

Be sure and get a floor jack that will give you enough lift height to take full advantage of the tallest setting on your jack stands.

I have the power built jack/stand combos from tsc. That’s all I use anymore. Keep one in the 4Runner and a few at home. Handle my 1 ton duramax allowed

 

They also lock and have enough stroke to lift wheels off ground from the frame

 

Never heard of these, but they look promising! I may have to get some as my floor jack just puked out all the hydraulic fluid.

 

I have had a pair of these for at least 8 yrs. They will support my F-250 with a salt spreader and loaded with 2 ton of salt (to keep the weight off the suspension until work time). I trust them absolutely.
I have used them on everything from a quad cab F-350 to a kia. Our 4runner is nothing for these. The only reason the stickers are missing is because I pressure wash them after cleaning my mowers. They get a lot of use & you cannot over buy safety.

That's what I have. Something to keep a vehicle from crushing you is not something you cheap out on.

HF 6 tons. Not included in the recall. I have used the under a Sequoia as well. I even used them under the mustang. I will not go less than 6 ton regardless of the vehicle. I still keep the lift jack and put the removed tires underneath for add to safety.

 

Worth every penny. Won’t regret it. Work well in sand and dirt also

Just curious, how thick is the steel base plate? It looks like it should distribute weight over a large area, so I can believe it would work well even on loose sand.

For those with 6ton stands, do you all use 4 stands to get all 4wheels up at the same time?

is it stable when you are lifting the front, while the back is already on jacks (or vice versa)

 

I have 4 stands, but typically only lift one side at a time (front or back). I jack vehicle up, remove wheels/tires, then lower on to the jack stands to where it's roughly level with the front/rear, then give the vehicle a couple of good pushes once set to make sure it's stable. I also leave the jack in place for added/backup stability, and to help expedite extraction in an absolute worst case scenario, lol.

 

Thanks. I do appreciate any more thoughts on lifting all 4corners at once. Sometimes it quite helpful to have the whole vehicle raised, such as during oil changes that require level (diffs, transmission)

 

A good set of even plastic car ramps can be a great help for oil changes etc...

Need to amend this. While 3-ton stands are strong enough for a 4Runner, they are generally tall enough (19 inch max. height) only for a factory suspension. They're too short if you have a suspension lift. I ended up having to buy 6-ton stands which provide an extra 4 to 5 inches of height.
