We have only had ours for a year in June, but bought it used with 30k. Drove it cross country and back for another 10k. If I could get my wife on board, I’d try to trade it for more than we paid and drive away in a brand new runner.

the issue is, the wife likes how unique ours is and doesn’t want a “normal” 4Runner.

Oh yeah, if you like the vehicle, it's paid off, and you don't need the money or the equity, definitely keep it. Nothing says you have to sell just because it's worth more.

Like these people that feel like they need to hurry up and sell their homes, only to not be able to find a replacement because the market is crazy.

When the tables turn and depreciation starts happening again, a 5 year old car will be worth a lot less than a 3 year old car.

If you could sell your current 2 year old car, and buy a new car for basically zero cost, wouldn't you?

That’s what I’ve been debating. I never shopped for a new 4Runner so I don’t know what type of price under MSRP would be normally, I basically got invoice on my taco. So I’ve been thinking if I can get the the difference in invoice and msrp above what I paid for our current 4Runner, I’m ahead in this one.

    Not exact, but rough.

If you have costco, can also look at invoice through the auto program.

Not necessarily. I'm personally not a fan of the TSS type gizmos introduced on the 2020+ models. Mine is still basically new (7k miles), set up like I want, and paid for, so why go through all the hassle? For LED headlights? Nope.

Plus, one of the major reasons for this whole scenario of Vroom/Carvana/Carmax/name your buyer offering ridiculously high prices for used vehicles is the dearth of new cars on lots. Say you sell your current vehicle - what do you buy that's new with the newly acquired cash? Not much to pick from, by all reports.

So stupid. In a year these prices will correct and you will have a $45K Lunar Rock Pro.

2021 Lunar Rock Pro - Maryland - Due to arrive on 05/19/21

    Base: $50,570
    BS Accessories: $1,038
    Delivery, Processing: $1,175
    Total MSRP: $52,783
    Market Adjustment: $2,000

Total: $54,783 - before TTL and god knows what else they will try to add on.

    BS Accessories:

    Pro Carpet Mats: $169 - Don't want.
Blackout Emblems: $160 - Not a choice on a Pro - should be a standard item on a Pro.
Ball Mount: $60 - Incredibly stupid - Don't want. I really laughed at this one! We already have two of them and my bike rack will be on the back 98% of the time.
    Predator Tube Steps - $649 - Don't want - will be removed.

Pro Roof Rack - Don't like - will be removed.

I wish I could have ordered this without the BS accessories and market adjustment, but given the times I am very grateful to have her soon!

Well, I'm over 20k miles on my 2019. Ill take a refreshed warranty and a couple oil changes for free. I'm also a fan of fancy new tech (that can be turned off for whatever reason you'd want to). There's plenty of people who still don't like ABS on motorcycles, helps keep used market up so thank you.

Not much to pick from, for people who don't have my flexibility to fly 1000 miles and break in the new car on a roadtrip home. For me, plenty of choice for 4Runners around invoice prices still.

The Lunar Rock landed early today! Was due to arrive on 5/19. Carmax just offered me $14,000 for my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with 92,000 miles, which is about $3,000 more than what I was thinking! Off to the dealership!

If it were not for that Lexus tailgate on working when using a trailer I would probably buy one. Very nice truck

thank you. This thing is a beast. That V8 is silent yet so torquey. And the dang thing still has 4LO and center diff locker.
I've gotten it to tow, too. I hope that door won't get in the way - but, it shouldn't as the hitch sits much lower. Will update...

Good deal. I remember measuring the swing on the door versus the winch on my boat trailer and for me personally if would not work.

It all depends on the type of trailer and style obviously. Nice vehicle though beautiful.

After driving a Crosstrek for five years and just driving a new Pro for 45 minutes, I now know why you thought the Crosstrek felt cheap! I am giddy with excitement about this new 4R!

If I'm driving a Crosstrek, then I know I won't be happy except when getting gas. I think they are ok and would be great on long trips, but you are going to love the 4R.

I've called so many dealers the past few days looking for a lunar rock. The hunt is hilarious.

If not I guess I'll have to keep the GX and wrap it in Lunar Rock lol

Having driven both a 4Runner and GX - why would you want to get a 4Runner instead? my 2020 TRDOP was very very nice - but this Lexus is on another level in every aspect.

The Lexus is fine. No major complaints. I don't love the rear door, especially when my bike rack is on. I don't have adaptive cruise or carplay.

Plus It's my long term play. I bought my 2017 GX CPO with 9k miles 2.5 years ago. Trade in now is only a few grand off what I paid. It is paid off and I would like to get a Pro with no payments, buy out my wife's NX300 lease in Feb (only has like 13k miles because she barely drove it last year). I also have an older 911 as my weekend car and if I can get into the 4runner and with all vehicles owned outright, I can upgrade the weekend car.

Plus we have a golden retriever and a second dog on the way in August and I want to roll down the back window for them

Sounds like you suffer from the same “getting easily bored with cars and just need to change” condition that a lot of us seem to have :p
But, i do see how the bike issue is an annoyance. I will say though - if you haven’t already - take a 4Runner out for an extended drive. Suspension setup stock being very soft and lack of low end grunt as compared to the GX is very noticeable. And the gas mileage is even worse lol
PS: dunno why the tongue out emoji came out pink….

    Lol sort of, yes

I want something I can mod a little bit (wheels and a few very minor things). I don't really mod the weekend car, just keep up on all the maintenance, etc. I was going to get a new set of wheels/tires and a few things for the GX but before I did that and seeing the market the way it has been, thought it might be nice to try and snag one if I could.

I would be fine with an ORP, but little things like not having dual climate was an issue. Wife and I keep our sides at completely different temps!

Heated and cooled seats in the GX are nice to keep too…. And memory seats….
