I am trying to decide same thing, a friend on here has weather tec and really likes it. I also am looking at AVS Bugdeflector and Bug Deflector II. I called AVS and tell me the version II is about one inch taller than than standard unit.

That one inch taller might give more protection on rocks etal. I wish I could see 4Runners with all 3 and decide.

I decided against the OEM deflector since it has little metal brackets and tape to go on hood. The brackets look like they might rust to me, and I hate to put clear tape on a new vehicle.

Glad you started this thread Run4it--I was thinking the same thing today.

This is the one I got after reading here that someone had used the same one on three different Runners he had owned (moved it from one to the other) and taken it through the car wash repeatedly. I am a car wash addict so needed that reliability factor.

Did OEM on my 2010 Rav4 and 2015 Tacoma - no rust, no damage and looks better than anything else IMO. M2C :)

I had a nice one. But a tree fell and cracked it. The only thing that saved the front end was my buddy’s Silverado which needed a new cab welded on...

Well, I clicked on the weather-tec link but I ended up with an AVS deflector with lights.... Divine intervention?

AVS makes them for weather tech. I only got weather tech as they are local to me

I called AVS yesterday and they insisted they did not make the product for weather Tec.

AVS told me they make the Stampede and Lund models but not Weather Tec.

That was a phone rep so not sure how accurate. Anyone know where you can buy extra bump stops for any of these?

The AVS Bug Deflector II is very nice. Fits snug, no rattles, no paint contact, it’s really not very tall at all but it keeps all bugs and rock chips off the hood. You can barely see it from the drivers seat.

I’ve used them on Tacomas and 4runners and would NOT switch to another brand, as the AVS has served me well.

Can’t remember if it was Lund or Weathertech, but at the store awhile back I pulled the label off and “AVS” was imprinted under the sticker.

So, AVS makes it for one of those companies. Sorry I can’t remember which. Pretty sure it’s just a rebranded Bug Deflector II.

Hmm I’m not sure about the lights. I have not seen any pics of one on our T4R’s. You guys like it though. I need to chill and see if it warms me up.

I doubt the Avs II and weather Tec are the same. Just thinking the avs II is $20 more. So if weather Tec was same why would they be $20 less. Just an observation

Can anyone with the AVS post a bunch of pictures including top, front side bottom and a picture of mounting system? I’ll do the same for weather tech. All I know is they look the same and have a removable sticker in the exact same spot

I wanted one of these for my trucks, but after reading about them, it seems they don’t work. Kinda makes sense, they are not large enough to deflect air above the windshield line.
Personally, I think they make the 4R front end ugly and overdone.

I picked up an AVS Bugflector II a while back, but after installing it (which was stupid easy) it contacted the top of the painted grille surround on one side. I didn't want it rubbing any paint off, so I sold it. Had there been a continuous gap all across, I'd still be using it.

This problem seems to be hit and miss. Some have a small gap, some have a larger gap.

A lot of nice looking deflectors, but do they work? I had one on a Jimmy years ago and couldn't tell the difference with it on or off.
