Metallic "Tink" Sound

    I'm at a loss. I've recently installed the Eibach pro lift (I don't think this is related, but maybe you will). Under moderate to hard braking, there's a metallic "tink" sound that comes from the driver's side front. It doesn't happen under easy braking. I've sometimes been able to feel it in the steering wheel, but not always. It's predictable enough that I can recreate the sound on demand, however rocking the vehicle won't reproduce the sound either. At least, not the amount that I'm able to rock it. I thought maybe swaybar bushings or sticky brakes? I haven't noticed any pulling or uneven wear, so I doubt the latter. I had all of the wheels off this weekend and checked every joint, hinge and fitting that I could think of. I'm lost on this one.

    Have you checked every bolt for tightness?

    I had a sound like that, sometimes could feel it. It ended up being a ever so slightly loose caliper bolt. Couldn't see it was loose until I threw a socket wrench on it.

    It wasn't doing it before the lift? Check the sway bar? I'm sure you probably did....

    Yeah, didn't find anything suspect.

    I did not, but the going consensus on here was that the relocation wasn't necessary with the 2.75" that the eibach system gives. Maybe I should be looking at that?

    I'm experiencing the same noises. Even turning sometimes can make a noise. I ordered the Icon relocation kit after the first one didn't fit. Hoping it takes care of it. Only did the lifting springs. Stock everything else.

    Checked the brakes... everything's tight. No clearance issues with the sway bar and everything else seems to be in good order. Any other suggestions?

    This is probably stupid but are your lugnuts tight? I can't think of anything else, just throwing dumb stuff out there..

    Just the eibach pro lift and a new set of brakes. I've checked all, to include the lug nuts.

    At this point I'm about to just take it to a shop. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but this has me thrown.

    I’d suspect it to be related to the lift. Sounds like a coil may need adjusted in the spring perch. I’d compare to a factory setup picture for reference and re-torque all bolts to spec. If you haven’t had an alignment since the lift that would be something the shop can do at the same time.

    I just changed out my front springs and was thinking about this noise during the job and thought I would mention the three nuts on top of the shock mount.. I don't think we mentioned those.

    Are your springs properly seated? Also, simply go over every bolt that you’ve loosened up during the install and check for proper tightness - hopefully with a decent torque wrench.
    Also, as other mentioned - check your sway bars for clearance during compression. If you can find some off pavement terrain - take the vehicle over it at safe speed and see if the clicking is there. That should help you further eliminate it.

    You could try reseating it. Now that you mention it, I do recall reading about it making such noise. See if I can dig up the post ....
