I got a Gobi in less than a week. But granted I bought it off a guy who was parting out his 4Runner before trading it in. So I would see if anyone is selling a roof rack.

If you want there are so many options to choose from that it would be hard to narrow down what you like and would be available in your shipping timeframe.

I would call around and try to find someone with what you like in stock. My wife found a Gobi in stock a couple of weeks ago.

Gobi is notorious for taking forever. There are threads here dedicated to the subject.

However, if you can find one in stock through a dealer, or don't mind waiting FOREVER, they are considered one of the best options.

That said, there are other good options as well.

A new option I am interested in is the ARB Base Rack. I have yet to see one on a 4Runner, but they do offer an install kit for it. Looks sweet. Might take over GOBI for my next rack.

Just placed an order. $1026 to my door step, 2 week delay but that's acceptable.

I really like the ARB rack as well. Very versatile design and it properly uses the roof mounting points so no silicone is needed. But they only recommend mounting the 61" long rack on the T4R's. The rep said you could physically mount the 84" rack (all the parts would go together properly) with but the front wouldn't be supported, it would cantilever past the forward factory mounting location. They don't have a front mount to sit on or drill into the roof. I suppose one could be fabricated .... but since this is my first time mounting an aftermarket rack and and I've never even seen how the front mounts work it seems like a bad idea for me to try.

OTOH a large RTT will cantilever beyond the rack as well so I'm unsure what I'm going to do. Thoughts anyone? I'll likely get a Sherpa if not the ARB.

Dang, that's disappointing to hear about the ARB Base Rack! I thought I read on ARB's site that they recommended the shorter one for the 4Runner, but I didn't look closely and thought "hmm that would be lame." I guess they just repurposed their same mount that they used for their older style 3/4 racks, and didn't bother with the R&D for a new front mount. Ugh, lame. That's one thing about ARB that annoys me.. they seem a bit lazy now, with their reputation carrying them and all.

My next rack will probably be full length.

No wonder GOBI's are still selling like crazy.

Stealth no-rise Gobi Roof Rack with sunroof opening ( has sun roof section too) ; ARB hard case 8 foot awning with led lights.
I am selling my GOBI no-rise stealth rack as well as my ARB hard case 8' awing with led lights that is attached to the Gobi rack with special Gobi clamps. In fact all the stuff on my roof is for sale. Checkout my photos. I will also be selling all 5 of my 265/70R17 BGGoodrich KO2s

I am trading in my 4Runner for a Tundra off-road as I need more towing capacity than the 4Runner provides. So sad I love my 4Runner.
