    Hi All,
I have a 2006 4runner SR5 that I am looking into updating the radio to one that has a wired backup camera - but I'm not at all wild about trying to wire it. o_O Plug n Play is what I'm hoping for!

My question is: does anyone know if the radio wiring plug actually already has a wire for a camera, that goes to the tag (area)? I'm hoping they used the same wiring for all models, including the models that would have had the camera originally. I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to find out how much will really be involved, before tearing everything apart (and going spendy on a radio).

    Thank you!

Thanks for the reply - Best Buy has radios they will install for free, but I'm betting there would be extra charges to wire that camera front to back. I haven't bought the radio (or camera) yet, still in info gathering mode. If I knew that a) the wiring plug Toyota used for the OEM radio is universal, and b) there was actually wiring already there for the camera, I might tackle it myself. I know better than to try messing around too much, though! I simply don't have experience in it.

I have an 07 Sport, the wiring does not exist for the rear camera, (or the seat warmers). To do a factory install, the hatch trim piece needs to be removed from the hatch. I remember removing the hatch keylock also. Good luck on your install.
