Spare Tire Kit -Help

My 2016 Trail came without a took kit....I got a breaker bar and sticker for the lugs which worked but purchased a 3/8 drive extension and it will not fit to lower the spare. I think it's spinning in there and is a little too small. I have found took kits on eBay and Amazon for around thirty dollars but nothing says they fit 4runner just Tacoma. There is nothing for 4runner and I'm trying to avoid the dealer. Do you guys think this will work?

No clue, but since you’re looking on eBay I would think you could find a used or salvaged tool kit that is exactly what came with your vehicle. That’s what I’d set my sights on.

 

I learned that the 3/8 drive extension was too small and was spinning inside, so I wrapped it in aluminum tape and was able to turn it down..

 

look up in a junk yard or offer up any 4runner toll kit will work 4th or 5th Gen good luck

 

Sorry if my post is not relevant, but I'd like to know if there is a good product out there to extend the stock bottle jack for 4Runners with a 2-3" lift.

I haven't even removed the jack and played with it, but I suspect it would come up short with my truck.

I would think it's the same kit for either one. Why would Toyota design 2 different spare tire mechanisms? Maybe see if someone will let you try the adapter from a Tacoma. Or, check the part numbers to see if they're the same.

 

There are "extensions" to put on the rod end of a bottle jack. Several differnt kinds also some "U" shaped to fit a frame or what have you.....

I nabbed a safe jack set,... tossed it in, and its lived there.

 

Cool, thanks, I should probably look into this before I do any big road trips. Of course I'm still waiting on a new fuel pump like many of you due to the recall. Not really comfortable going to far until it's done.

 

Just wanted to report back that I ordered the 30 dollar set from Amazon for Tacoma and it worked perfectly...

 

Will you please share the link, my 2017 came without the tool kit as well.

 

I've got the factory tool kit and jack too, but I don't think I could even put the spare on because the stock jack doesn't go high enough. Lift with 285's.

Awhile back had to put the spare on the Sequoia, stock size tires and I couldn't get the stock jack under an area that would jack the car high enough to change the tire. Had to cheat with floor jack.

Fortunately the flat occurred at home otherwise I'd been screwed.
