Hi From Pakistan

Hi guys.
I'm glad to join this forum and to improve my knowledge about the vehicle I own. I'm Ambrose from Pakistan and by profession I'm a physician but have a passion for 4x4s. So far haven't done any mods to my vehicle and keeping it stock.
I own a toyota Surf aka 4runner 2000 model with a 1kd-ftv 3L turbo. loving it so far.

I've been recently facing some issues. i'm not sure if i should call it as issues or what. since the last 300 or so kms, I m noticing that the vehicle engine isnt that responsive as it used to be. what i mean is that its a turbo diesel and man, it used to be straight to 100km/h in 10 secs. now what happens is that the turbo kicks in fine, but when it goes in the second gear, i feel like there is a shifting lag. mine is an automatic transmission. there hasnt been any sort of abnormal smoke so far nor the engine heats up prematurely. i also recently changed the diesel filter after 15000 kms and it has massively improved things. the air filter is around 8000km old. i was wondering to change that too. the transmission oil has been changed just recently, i think 500kms ago. there has also been another problem. the front cross for the axel was broken from one side so i changed it, but since then, there is a strange sound as if there is some sort of play in that which subsides as it goes beyond 50km/h. can that be responsible for the delayed throttle response too? the timing belt is good to go for atleast 50000 more kms. (got it checked earlier this month). also the front suspension has some work needed. some bushings need to be changed. any thing else you folks would suggest?

I would not think that would cause a delay in throttle response. When was the last time the injectors were cleaned out? It's a diesel after all....

 

had there been an injectors issue, it would atleast give a specific smoke which isnt the case. its only the throttle response. nothing else is wrong at all. i'm gonna change the air filter soon, i hope it would eradicate the issue
