No none at all. I followed the gobi instructions and never said to use any. They supply these rubber strips to isolate the holes.

I've been debating doing the same or adding the smallest amount of butyl rubber around the bolt hole gaps.

I'll just have to make that call when I get there.

I used clear silicon plus the Gobi rubber gaskets. If I had butyl, I would have used it instead of silicon. Sealing it with extra insurance wouldn’t hurt. Don’t want any drop of water getting into your headliner.

Very nice rack. One question - what do the front two rack feet attach to? I see that the other four feet use the oem attachment places...I think...I know nothing about Gobi racks...

Edit - never mind. I looked at the Gobi site and read the installation instructions. Those two feet just sit on top of the oem trim piece...

I have seen a few places with the BajaRack in stock. I know they are pretty beefy. Not sure about mounting a rtt to it though. Needs more crossbars.

Rack is going on hopefully tomorrow. Rain is in the forecast so this might be a garage job BUT...

Can someone measure their height of the front bar of their Gobi to the ground? I really don't wanna install this thing and be stuck in the garage lol

If you got a lift and 285's all the better :D

I don’t know how to remove or install this rack. You need a hoist and pully setup to do it yourself, its heavy AF. I want to take mine off to wash/clay bar/wax the roof. And repaint the rack because of rusting. I’m interested in people showing how to install and remove this rack, and how many people i need.

I'm installing mine tomorrow so I can't comment on the accuracy of this video but it seems very thorough.

I did mine myself and it was pretty easy. When taking off the oem rack, use a ratchet and no power tools. You need to take the bolts off in pairs or the retaining bracket might fall onto the head liner.

other then that, the gobi instructions are great

It's nice to have an extra set of hands (I had a friend help with the lifting) but you could do it yourself if necessary.

you can drape a comforter over one side of the truck and over. Then lean the rack on the side of truck and push up. Once you clear the edge, then slide to the top. Viola

Well disappointed again by FedEx. 30 minutes into the delivery window they call and say its delayed in Missouri. Looks like the new day is Tuesday. Good thing I already took the OEM rack off and its supposed to rain for the next week

At least there is a new delivery day this time. They lost my last package for over a month in the local distribution center. Good thing it wasn't anything important, like a gun worth a few grand haha

I think he's referring to the little white "sleeves" that remain after the OEM rack is removed and where the Gobi bolts into.

Its strange because I've read that they fall in easily, I gave mine a little push because I'm a child and they are firmly in place so I'm not sure how people are making these fall into the headliner.

There's a threaded bracket on the inside of the roof panel that the bolts thread into. Some have reported that bracket coming loose and falling into the headliner. Not having removed any bolts, or seen that bracket, I can't speak to what holds it to the inside of the roof metal. Most say to loosen the two bolts a little at a time, alternating back and forth between the two, in order to minimize the risk of that bracket coming off.

Keep in mind there’s a floating bracket which can fall off if the bolts are taken off individually.

Too undo the bolts, loosen one bolt two turns and switch to the other one. The goal is to have both bolts still attached to the bracket until the very end. Continue and at some point you’ll hit resistance, this is the loctite zone. This is the crucial area, the loctite zone is where it becomes harder to turn the bolt and may cause the bracket to slip. But since both bolts are still in place, the bracket will not slip out. Continue to alternatively turn each bolt until your out of the loctite zone and your good

I guess I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why this might be the case.

If it's important for the internal bracket not to fall to the headliner, wouldn't it make more sense to unscrew one bolt and replace with a new one, then unscrew the second bolt and replace it?

    Good question

the threaded bracket sits in this clip. Nothing really holds it in place. It just slides in place. As long as it sits in the middle of the clip, it’s fine. But once one side slips, the bracket has a tendency to fall completely off. By removing one bolt completely off, this may cause one side to slip off. This happens because of the locktite. the locktite causes a rotational force if one of the bolts is completely removed.

I used an impact to remove mine as I had put a metric fuckton of thread sealant when I painted my OEM rack black, woops haha
