Yep, crazy that it sat in LB for almost 2 months!

 

Do you know why it sat at port so long? Mine has been in the port of NY since 12/19, and I was told they had to replace the transmission oil cooler. I wonder if there was a bad batch. At least you've given me some hope that mine might be getting done soon.

 

The dealer just said everything was super slow due to Covid. I had them look back on the history of vehicles that had just arrived on the lot to get a timeline. Most sit at the port for almost 8 weeks. No idea how or where they store them there.

Deposit taken 12/11 for a November build MGM TRD Pro. Traded in a 2015 335xi (with 45k on it. They gave me 19.5k on the trade. I'm still making the payments). They took my car because they didn't want me crashing it (winter here in MA). Gave me a Rav4 to drive while I wait, free of charge. Dealer said it was to hit the Newark port Dec 21st. They say the ship made the delivery on time. Can see it in Dealer Daily. 1st "excuse" for delivery delay was, as you said, oil cooler. All subsequent discussions on the subject have been attributed to "chip" shortage due to COVID.

I've called dealer a few times. GM at this point is fed up with me. It's unfortunate that Newark got pounded the past few days with snow (record breaking, of course.) Truck has probably been besieged by the salty wind, snow, sleet, bird-shit, and the general nasty air that is Newark over the past few months as it sits on an open pier.

I get it. But i don't get it at the same time, ya know?

 

Interesting, I'm in MA as well. They convinced me to finalize the deal on 12/31 for their year end, and I am an idiot because I did as I was expecting the truck that following week. Well, guess who's new car payment is due next week and still don't have the truck...coincidentally enough, I also traded in a BMW, but they didn't give me anything else to drive, I'm just stressing about anything happening to it while I wait. They have supposedly "hot tagged" mine at port, for what it's worth.
I've called the dealer so many times I think they are very annoyed and I've called Toyota - all I really want it an ETA and they are all unable to give one. Frustrating to say the least!

 

I am in MA as well. Put a deposit on a Lunar Rock Pro in early September, truck was built late November and arrived in NY on December 26. Took delivery Jan 19.

 

Yep, I agree. I thought the dealer was bs’ing me until they showed me their updates. Makes no sense to hurry up and build and ship a car to just have it sit for two months at the port. Sounds like something the US government would do!

 

I traded an X5 for mine! Lots of used BMWs out there on Toyota lots!

 

That's really something that they didn't give you a loaner in the meantime. Like, anything... a Carolla ffs! I'm hoping you didn't tell them you had something else to drive...uncool either way. I mean, they are called Toyota Logistics for a reason. You'd think they'd have their ducks in a row.

Mines a 588xxxx vin, may I ask if yours was a 587xxxx or lower? Also, it seems Imperial hit the friggin lottery on Pros...I didn't make their list so had to venture elsewhere that maybe doesn't have the "pull", so to speak. The winter was going so well too without much in the way of weather. Hate that our port friends had to clear snow off these and I didn't (waaahh haha).

 

Was excited about getting my Lunar Rock. But after reading this thread, kinda making me nervous. Put money down Nov 9th was built Jan 25th. Dealer said would leave Japan Feb 4th, at a US Port Feb 19th. They said by early March they would have it. Fingers crossed. Not holding my breath after reading these.

 

My Venture was built in late October. Left Japan early November and was in port in NJ as of Jan 4th. Made the deal on the 5th and it was expedited. Took delivery in Buffalo on Jan 20th with 2 miles on it.

 

You guys pre-ordering the TRD Pro's - were they sold to you at MSRP? Or do you have to pay an additional markup as well? Thanks and I hope you get your rigs soon!

MSRP. Had been following the forums so knew what to expect. Didn't even ask.

At this point, I wouldn't mind a March delivery. Less salt exposure, fewer cold days to start its life...maybe this was meant to be. Gotta keep telling myself this or I will go insane. I'm an instant gratification kinda guy haha.

 

MSRP here too. However, I did get them to go up $6K on my trade from where they first started - that tells me there might be a little wiggle room, but you have to work it from the trade side.

Good to know that you guys are paying only MSRP on your ordered Pro's. I still feel the value added is 50 cents on the dollar for the upgrade to a pro. But, I really have no interest in modifying the Pro which is part of the attraction for me. It appears that the Pro's in MGM are the least available color! Thanks!

 

well alrighty then.

Dealer just called to inform me that my Pro has switched from Allocation status to Fullfillment status! Gave a delivery window to the dealer of 15th-20th, so basically next week.

again, I'm a 588xxxx vin, so whomever else fits that vin block, it's imminent.

 

I wonder if a lot of the "Venture" stuff is bolted on in port, and that slows down the usual process. I seem to remember that the TRD pros come over without the racks, wheels, and maybe even suspension.

 

I've seen that stated before but have not heard from anyone that could say they "know for sure".

Dealer told me that while the vehicle was in "fulfillment" status they could add accessories like running boards, edge guards, cargo cover, etc... So those items are definitely done at the port.

 

If you finance it's crazy, in my opinion, to get some of the simple port add-ons since you'd be paying interest on them. Once they are on the ticket for the order/allocation it seems like it's impossible to remove them, which sucks. The only thing I wanted from my build sheet was the damn blackout badges lol.
