My name is Ron and I have been a member of Tundras.com for about 6 years. I have owned a Tundra since 2015 but am now thinking about buying a 4Runner as my next vehicle. I live in NW Arkansas and am from Hot Springs, AR, originally. I served 8 years in the Army (Tanker) and left the service as a Captain in 1979. I am primarily on this forum to learn about the 4Runner and to research perhaps owning one. Thank you for the add to the forum and I look forward to spending time here.

    Welcome from Northern Arizona!

What you see is what you get with a 4Runner. There are no surprises anymore, but it's a very solid, very capable rig with lots of interior room. I use mine for overlanding and love it. About the worst I can say about it is that it's kinda boring, but I hope nobody buys a T4R expecting to be excited by it.

Howdy @Red_5 And, thanks for the summary of what to expect of a 4Runner. At my ripe old age, reliability and boring are not necessarily bad things! I'm used to the Tundra reliability and sounds like I can expect the same of a 4Runner.

Hey Ron, I've within the past 2 months traded my 17 Limited Tundra and picked up my 21 4runner. It was after much testing and contemplating for a long time. I'm up in Wisconsin, and the first thing I've seen is it's more planted in the snow than my truck. Certainly because of the more evenly distributed weight. It's really nice to be more nimble in driving, too. It felt small at first, but I was used to the huge cabin in my Tundra, and now it feels quite comfortable. It felt grossly underpowered, but now I'm used to that as well.

I definately miss my truck. I like walking by and tossing a chain or whatever over the bedside without thinking...so there is that. I have trailers and another truck for real pulling, so I'll do fine.

I do not regret it, personally.

Thanks for the insight, Ken. My wife has a Honda CRV and every time I get out of my truck and drive her CRV it feels like a go cart LOL! I might possibly keep my Tundra for hauling/chores and just add a 4Runner to my household. I don't put many miles on a vehicle any more but the 4Runner styling has always appealed to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my Tundra and it has been very reliable and trouble-free for the past 6 years, but I like the thought of owning a 4Runner.

Also, Welcome. I'm for the most part, just a reader, but you are a great contributor over on Tundras. I think you'll find lots of good stuff here, and people.

Thanks for that, Ken! I try to add as much as I take away on the Toyota forums. I have been very fortunate to be a part of Tundras.com; they are a great bunch of folks over there. I must say this forum feels like home to me as well and I look forward to the same experience here.
