Hi all, I am new to the forum. I was over at T4R.org but wanted to try over here. I've had 3 4Runners in my life - a 96 and 99 SR5 and my current vehicle is a 2015 SR5.

Thanks Bob! Here's a couple. Haven't done much other than tires and blacking out the emblems (except in 1st pic).

Nice truck. New to the forum as well. Did you black out the wheels and front emblem yourself? if so what was the best process that worked for you?

    Thanks!

I blacked out the emblems using Plastidip. I didn't want to drop $70-$80 for the aftermarket stickers I've seen on T4R and I've never regretted it. I think I spent like $20 total with the plastidip, tape and newspaper. It's honestly really easy and only took one summer afternoon in my garage. Basically, I prepped all of the emblem areas with newspaper and paint (be careful on the front - don't want to miss and hit the area behind the emblem). Then, I basically went around the vehicle and sprayed a medium coat on each emblem. I waited an hour in between each coat and then sprayed another coat. You can probably get away with 30 mins depending on how humid it is. I did this about 5x and left to do other stuff around the house in between coats. Honestly, the emblems really aren't that difficult. Once you're done, you peel the excess Plasti-dip off and carefully scrub whatever remains with goo-gone. I also decided to do the roof-rack and honestly regret it - it takes a lot of time since I had to remove the rack and I found it really difficult to get a smooth appearance since you're spraying from multiple angles. When it dries, it's a much lighter black than the car paint and while it's not as noticeable with the emblems, it looks faded. I could probably add a coat of spray paint to it to make it darker, but I imagine I'll peel it off and either replace it or just vinyl wrap it (which I think is actually really hard to do). The best part about Plasti-dip is that if you screw up, you just peel it off and start over again. It doesn't leave a mark.

The wheels are aftermarket wheels from Discount Tire (MB TKOs). I feel like the center caps detract from the black-out look so I'm trying to find a plain black center cap, not sure if they exist. In hindsight, I would probably plasti-dip the OEM wheels. I sold mine and I kinda regret it.

It looks really good I'm probably going to take your Plasti dip advise and do my emblems but not the rack. Thanks for the good walk through on the emblems. My buddy tried it on his Tacoma and the paint ran and stuck together a lot on the emblems and made it tough to peel with ought peeling the whole layer off.
