Have you ever driven a tundra? I have a 2018 crew max stock besides having 285’s and it gets 12mpg, got about 13mpg with stock tires lol the 5.7 is a gas guzzler compared to the 4.0 in the 4runners.

My PRO got 18 mpg here in CO before I added a lift and 285’s. Now it gets 16 mpg, as others have stated the best way is to calculate by hand at the pump to get accurate mpg.

The kid is probably jerking off into the gas tank and bringing down the mpgs by dilution.

    That's what you meant, right?

    Fucking teenagers.

If you could read, you would have seen that I said, "...which is worse than my 5.7 Tundra gets." If you're going to be a donkey hole, PM me and we can discuss this.

I've never got better than 16.5 with it - that was coming back from Flagstaff (downhill) in 2017 on stock wheels. (it's a 16) I bought it new & it's sitting on 285's now. My daughter now drives it as a DD, but I won't base anything on her driving, I'm basing it on when I drove it up until 2 years ago. My wife's 2017 Sequoia doesn't get much better than 16 normally, so if you are/were getting 18, that is awesome.

Check out the Tundra forum on the E85 problem...there's peeps not getting better than 10 or 11 on their Tundra 5.7's with that issue. Toyota quit selling E85 5.7 motors in California in 2015-ish because of their consumer-favoring lemon laws.

You need to figure out if this is (a) a problem with your mileage read-out or (b) a problem with your engine.

Just hand-calculate your mileage for a tank. It's no big deal. If you're actually getting 10.2 mpg in a stock, brand new T4R then yes, there's something wrong.

But I expect this is just calibration weirdness of the read-out due to the newness of your rig.

I'm up to about 345 miles on the Odometer right now... So, yeah, she's still new, and I'm still breaking her in .... But still..., 10.2 MPG !!????

Yes; either you're not calculating it (correctly), or driving too fast, or overloaded with junk, or maybe you have a mechanical issue.

That calculation is based on past driving, most of which may be test drives. Do the math yourself on a new tank and you'll be amazed by the improvement in mpg.

Please don’t add 3 cans of sea foam and 93 octane fuel combo on the brand new truck. Do as others mentioned. Fill it up, run a few hundred miles, top it off and calculate. Let Toyota rectify this situation.

it won’t do any harm, except waste money and time to go get it. But it won’t do any good...

My 2019 was similar when new. That dash readout on mine was in the low 14s for a while, then kept creeping upward. It now stays around 19.2.

If you currently have 345 miles on the truck, you've barely surpassed what one tank of gas should get you. If you've already filled your tank multiple times, and are going off that dash readout, stop. Turn that readout off, or -0- it out, fill your tank, drive it 'til empty, hand calculate, report back. Basically the same thing @ElectroBoy said back in post #5...if hand calculating a full tank to empty still comes up 10.2 mpg, there's definitely something off.

Not sure if this was mentioned. Are you buying your gas at a trusted station? Years back filled up at a shell station on the interstate. Worst tank of gas ever. Had a Corolla and ended up that tank got under 15 highway. Next tank it returned to normal

Not a serious post, IMO. The OP has barely run through a single tank of gas on a brand new car and hasn't indicated that he's followed much -- if any -- of the advice from other posters. Nothing to see here.

    Update from the OP:

Ok - I called my local Dealer - He told me not to get my panties in a twist too much..... He's heard of this problem before ... And that 11-14 MPG isn't too uncommon with constant short-haul trips (my profile exactly) & with the constant stop & go driving of NYC ... He also claimed that gas here in the NYC-area is now all spiked with anti-coagulants / anti-freeze, and all sorts of other such crap to prevent freezing in our fuel lines... and that this worsens gas-mileage even more

He also said they won't really do an exhaustive fuel-line workover until at least 3000 miles on the Odometer ... So there ya have it

I will do a manual MPG count over my next 2 fill-ups and report back.

Thanks very much everyone for your fantastic input, advice, support, and encouragement (except @AgentKooper ... He's (or she) a douche)

    Greatly appreciated!

Can you get it out on a highway at 55mph and just drive it for 30 miles and see what the gauge says?

How many stoplights/signs/turns are you stopping at per mile? If its more than 2 theres your answer.

The official mpg test does about 1 stop every half mile. You have a heavy vehicle so any deviation will give worse^2 results
