All this talk is getting my mind going on looking for a 1st Gen NSX again. I was looking into those 2 years ago and you can pick a nice one for a good deal. Decided we're going to buy a larger house instead of us upgrading our cars and/or buying a weekend toy.

LOL!! I loved my '94! Ran like a champ at 227K when traded in on my '03 V8. You can imagine my shock going from that 3.0 to the 4.7. Many great memories in that old SR5, though.

JK! I do believe I was in 4L and S1, but that was just to keep it from slipping and rutting the campsite. I had established camp and wanted to give the others a laugh when they showed up. This was the Tacomaworld / Wisconsin Tacomas second annual "social distancing" camping outing in August. Good trip!

 

The 3.0 is very hit or miss. Glad you got lucky. But a high percentage of the 2nd gens I looked at had their head gaskets replaced (sometimes more than once). What did it for me was the lack of performance compared to the 4 cylinder option. They get way worse gas mileage, acceleration was underwhelming for a v6 and not a big upgrade to the 4 cylinder, and to top it off the hit or miss reliability was the final straw for me when I was considering the 2nd gens. Ironically the 4 cylinders went for MORE money in my area because the v6 had such a bad rap I guess.

 

Yes, I believe it was a unicorn! And, soooo slow!! If I ever bought one again as a project or something I would for sure look for a 22r! Had that motor in my '85 Celica! Even that thing was slow.

Yeah, we stay at a nice state park for the bathrooms and showers. I go to some sites that are a little more remote when I'm solo. No amenities, and the bathroom requires a shovel. I will admit, as nice as those more primitive campsites are, a hot shower is nice to have access to!

I used to take the Celica and my Supra camping before we got the first 4runner. I actually drove that Celica to Ohio (Cedar Point) and Mcafee, New Jersey in 2000. Couldn't believe my GF was willing to drive cross country in that POS! Good times!

 

"its a Jeep thing"! What a pain in the ass! I had a 2006 Wrangler Rubicon for seven years and the wave thing was annoying as hell! I felt like a dick when I did not return a wave. I felt like a douche when I waved and they did not return the wave. I tried to avoid eye contact. This topic is really hitting home on two fronts. I once pulled next to an old beater jeep at a stop light and I did not acknowledge their existence and I knew they were looking over - what a dick move on my part! I am probably going to purchase a TRD OR Premium 4R in the near future, but am open to a Pro if I can find one at MSRP. After reading this topic of discussion and recalling my supposed sense of superiority with Rubicon - I cannot buy a Pro!
