    Just installed a Pedestal Commander and it lives up to the hype. Especially if you go with a larger tire size.

    I always hated the sluggish acceleration on the truck, but after I installed 285’s it seemed to be struggling to find a gear at low speeds. It was terrible- thought I might have to go back to stock size.

    The PC solved the problem. It now responds like it should have in the first place- like a normal V6. I have it on city mode, not the most aggressive setting. I’m not trying to push a product- I’m sure the others are just as good- but if you are frustrated with how it drives after going with bigger tires, this is a cheap and easy mod!

    33’s are heavier, but it’s not drastic enough to contemplate going back to stocks. The skinny pedals solves everything:burnrubber:
    The pedal commander has too many horror stories of putting vehicles in limp mode and leaving you on the side of the road. Best mod is a little more $$ at the gas pump!

    Lagging, not smooth, clunky. Hitting the pedal hard solves it- unless you you are in traffic. Anyway maybe it’s just me- I will say it is a lot more fun to drive with a responsive throttle. I’m judging on road of course. Solved my problem.

    I do read that the PC eliminates the throttle lag we have. I can see why people would like them so much.

    I believe I have just gotten accustomed to the throttle response and am too cheap to bother with it.

    I have I-Drive similar product. Ultimate settings 1-9. Many people set to 4 they happy.

    I installed TRD Cai and TRD exhaust. They are the same level as Ultimate 4. If I set 7,8,9 then I feel more throttle. I mean anything over 7 car literally jump.

    I think CAI and exhaust make a dramatic change.

    I don't' think to give more gas on the pedal is the same as PC. Because when you give more gas RPM raise and the car not even move as quickly. While PC or I_Drive, RPM does not jump like crazy but car throttle actually moves. Try it first before you think given more gas the same as this product.

    I have one on my 2018 Tundra on 35’s and it was the best $250 I’ve spent on the truck. The thing drives like a dream despite being on stock gears. Coincidentally, I’m going to take advantage of the BF sale and put one (same model #, actually) on my wife’s 4Runner. It helps increase the driveability that much.

    Sounds like you’ve never tried one. I would have never guessed...

    You are correct. The ECU is programmed to open the throttle body at a constant rate (very slow), regardless of how fast or hard you smash the pedal. A PC intercepts the signal from the throttle position sensor to the ECU and allows the user to edit the rate of change, resulting in a far more linear throttle pedal position-to-throttle body butterfly position relationship.

    Those that haven’t experienced it are understandably skeptical, and so was I before I tried one. I was 100% wrong.

    This video is a sales video for sprint booster but it shows exactly what’s happening very clearly.

    Bought one almost a year ago. It sat on the shelf for 6-7 months, never installed it.

    I made no comment on whether the pc is worth the $$ or works or not, I was merely pointing out the debate comes up often, so don't get your knickers in a twist. I have no opinion on their viability, other than in the 6-7 months of owning one, I never felt the need to improve the stock throttle, so I sold it to someone who wanted it. YMMV, and sounds like you're very satisfied. Great.

    Invariably, these threads turn into a debate about using one of these vs pushing the pedal harder. I don't care either way.

    haha, you bad, now you're grounded. you're not allowed to drive 4runner for few days.


    Same as Garmin product. People disagree for no reason, "I have Wave, I have Google map". Good, use it. People want Garmin for a reason why put your mouth in when People actually use Garmin.

    If you don't want to use this product. Use the car as a Manual shift, you will feel the response almost the same as this product.

    I think the point some are making is that the PC does not actually make the truck faster. It just makes it accelerate a split second sooner. Once the throttle is wide open, there is no difference.

    It makes the pedal feel more responsive. No one would argue that. I just like to point out that it's not adding any power.

    Very much like when someone asks about a particular tire and folks come around to tell them those tires are garbage and they should buy something else. It applies to all kinds of things here.

    No power added any of this products. Only ways to accomplish that is engine mods. Ecu tunes, super charger, etc

    Correct. These vehicles have plenty of power, it’s just that it’s not available in the way it should be due the MPG/noise/emissions regulations.

    To sum up this thread, I think we can all agree:
    • Throttle controllers don’t increase horsepower.
    • These don’t do anything for you off-road.
    • A CAI, cat-back exhaust and supercharger give you added horsepower and are way better than a PC.
    • Some people really dis-like responsive acceleration. :)

    Thing is, I've read where some turn off the pc when off-roading, while others have stated they feel the pc gives them better throttle control over certain obstacles, so...go figure. Just when you think it's one way, another angle is stated...

    I may yet get one of these gadgets, but if I did, I would go with the Sprint Booster. I like the idea of finding a setting you like, then removing the controller. I was never a fan of the size of the PC controller box. Probably contributed to my selling it.

    I would agree, but I can't think of a reason to dislike responsive acceleration. I am just not ready to pay $300 to accelerate slightly sooner. :notsure:

    If something happens to my peddle commander, i would look for another one to install, i like it, and the wife likes it. It is probably the least expensive bang for my buck so far.

    1 - Agreed

    2 - Disagree - Being apply to adjust throttle response while offroad is probably the only truly functional thing it does.

    3 - Disagree - Cold air intake and cat back exhaust don’t do anything except make noise and lighten up your wallet.

    4 - Agree - Did you see the dude on Facebook that had it turned way up and was trying to pull up on ramps in his garage? He launched his 4Runner off the ramps and smashed his tool box and some shelves because the slightest actual throttle input was modified to to ask for damn near full throttle right now.

    That’s not quite right. If you take a look at our 5th Gen wiring diagrams the gas pedal assembly incorporates an accelerator pedal sensor which outputs three signals (and three redundant signals) only to the ECU. There is no input connection from the throttle position sensor back to the gas pedal. The ECU has the logic and does all the work of controlling the engine. The videos you see on sites that show the butterfly valve opening quicker with a PC or SB are deceiving, they don’t tell you what setup they are emulating. Maybe it’s valid for some other cars, but not the 4Runner. Maybe it’s a bogus demo, I don’t see any ECU in their demo setup.

    Sprint Booster (and I presume Pedal Commander also) are merely adjustable amplifiers that output full scale voltage to the ECU along a steeper curve than stock vs pedal position. That means less pedal pressure for more response. This can create a more enjoyable driving experience for people. It overcomes the sluggish pedal response of the 5th Gen that we all notice coming from a previous generation or different vehicles. However it is expensive and there are instances where they fail and get the 4R into limp mode. BTW, I have a SB and really enjoy it.

    I had to read this 3x. I came to the conclusion that you like your SB (which I would buy over the PC). However you also say both are bogus...
    Am I the only one that reads it that way?
