I picked up my 2021 SR5P last night. Low beams and fogs are very bright. SR5 still has a halogen high beam that doubles as the DRL, not thrilled with that. I’ll see if I can get a pick when the sun goes down.

Just a few more subtle changes so far. The grill is a little different with some chrome accents that will be getting blacked out or replaced with a pro style grill. Also a slight upgrade2471D2C2-6C22-4B75-8071-627230BA2F12.jpg 88F0CACE-3874-4BB5-98B6-6510A32628CB.jpg in tires. Still Dunlop but they look a little more of an all terrain tire. So much so that I’m now conflicted about ditching them immediately.

Here ya go! The interior shot is pretty spot on. The front shot doesn’t really capture how bright they are.

Why the hate on halogen high beams? Just cause they’re not LED? Who cares as long as they perform well and light up the road for you to see. They’re used so infrequently they last a long time. And if the color looks a little more yellow than the low beam, the oncoming traffic won’t care. They’re more concerned about your mid-adjusted aim and the glare from your fog lights blasting into their eyes.

My hate is the misleading of Toyota "saying LED headlights" when in fact it's a 50/50 split of LED low beams and Halogen high beams.

I wonder what else Toyota is misleading us on?

Oh boy, that question could derail this thread!
One big one is the need to use 0W-20 and stretch it out for 10,000 miles.

Yes I agree. I am a 2021 owner and I will use the high beams so infrequently that I dont really care. They are still quite bright and work well in no light scenarios. My headlights are LED (quite bright actually) and I am happy with the performance.

In fact, the low beams throw so far and wide, I actually had to adjust them slightly down because I kept getting flashed by oncoming traffic so much. That's with no lift either!

Toyota misleading could derail this thread?

My point of this is Toyota said LED Headlights which in a sense maybe they're when in low beam configuration but still misleading you look at other manufactures they say LED headlights and guess what both are LED. Don't mislead that's all I am saying complete transparency when your name is on it.

I change the oil every 5K no matter what I have never been a fan of 10K oil changes even with my 14/17 Tacoma and 19 T4R

Good headlight illumination for winter night driving is pretty important. If you haven’t done this yet, try the H11 to H9 (low beam) and 9005 to 9011 (high beam) conversions. For about $50 it’s a quick easy mod and you get a lot more light on the road. It’s worth a try before spending big $$. I’m really happy with mine.

Per IIHS testing, the stock halogen high beams actually project quite far ahead. Farther even than they consider ideal. However, they do not project far enough to the left and right.

While there have been many posts on the forum reviewing the new LED headlights (hint hint to the OP :D) I have yet to see much discussion or measurements of how well these LEDs project to the sides -- weather on low or high beam.

I’d actually prefer a halogen high beam along with the led low. The yellow tint of the halogen is much better for seeing contrast of objects/animals at night. It’s also far better when there’s snow on the ground. And when it’s wet. So. No complaints here. I couldn’t care less what it looks like.

And the only reason I like the led lows is because the halogen lows in the T4R underperform (the highs are fine). I’d much prefer a higher performing halogen low beam. But I’ll take what I can get. And that seems to be LED now.

I bought a 2021 yesterday, I drove home from work this morning in a decent snow storm with fog. They are the vest headlights I have had since my 370z (stock hid).

I think I was flashed just once in the 58 miles home. I figured out last night at work why my 2021 4R feels so different than the wife’s 2020, it came with KDSS, it’s also empty of any stuff so far. So the headlights in my case would be aiming lower than the wife’s 2020 with all the crap she has lol.

    The same 4Runner everyone has
Would not recommend HID bulbs in your high beams. They take several seconds to warm up and whatever cheap Chinese ballasts you're getting in the kit will probably give up after a few hundred switch flicks.

Don't bother with any of that overpriced junk. You'll lose proper distance projection sticking Frankenstein LED bulbs in halogen housings. Get performance halogen bulbs and be done with it.

I installed the headlight revolution csp mini 9005/9145/H10 in my 2021 4runner sr5 for the high beams. They do function as a DRL at a little dimmer than highs but do flicker a lot. They are super bright plus they match in color to the low beam leds so I'm happy :)

Umm, nothing? Pro and Limited = both LED, other models 50/50. It's right there in their sales literature and has been since they announced LED lights.
