What sketchy section? Nothing sketch about that trail. Black Bear is highly overrated in my opinion. It’s a beautiful trail and is easy if you aren’t stupid. You really have to fuck up to flop your rig. The steps were cake, the slide didn’t slide, and the switchbacks were tight but not bad at all.

You should have brought your stock ass T4R out here with us!

Some footage from Hell’s Gate. I wasn’t impressed with the obstacle at all. All the videos you watch and people you talk to make it seem like much more difficult than it was. Getting down to the start of Hell’s Gate was way worse.

It’s dead. Killed by rats. I’m gonna go play with muscle cars and airplanes for a while.

Unfortunately, the wiring was just too tasty for some local rodents. I had no lights on the dash or any other indications that wires were being feasted upon (hadn’t been chewed through completely) until I hit a rough patch on the highway and something went bang and then got all rice krispy sounding. Transmission grenaded itself, the main shaft in the trans bound up and broke in 2 places, the bind was so severe it trashed the t-case and torque converter, and also caused a momentary blip in the engine that was enough to spin the crank. Had it towed to a shop (not Toyota) and they found a rats nest with a bunch of crispy fried baby rats in it on top of the trans built around the trans harness and a second nest at the back of the engine between the firewall and engine near the main harness pass through. Total damage assessment was engine rebuild, new trans, new case and new main harness and trans harness. Shop wanted $17k for parts and labor. I said fuck that and sold it to a guy with a wrecked T4R who just needs and good chassis and body to put his driveline in.

 

Holy shit! Toyota needs to stop using rat food as insulation! I can't believe they're still using that garbage. There's just too many of these situations going on.

Picked up a 2020 5.0 on the cheap. Probably going to find a 1st Gen T4R and go nuts on it.

 

Anyone looking for cam tab gussets for their 5th gen? I have an unopened box containing a full set of gussets from Total Chaos. $110 shipped. That’s about $27 cheaper than you can get them from TC.

Hahahahaha, I’m not done yet! Searching for the right 2nd Gen T4R. Once I find the right one, it will be getting a 2003 Cobra engine and 6 speed MT dropped in.

This one has a Kenne Bell SC. The frame will have to be reinforced and it will because it will be on Dana 60’s.

 

I’ll have to source a Ford case and adapter plate if Atlas doesn’t have anything in their case options.

I call bullshit. Sounds like you will have a garage full of parts that is always missing one or 2 pieces that you just can’t find so the build ends and you sell all the crap on your shelves. Sound familiar?
