So I just got back from Moab with my 4 runner (3" lift with metal tech front bumper). It was my first outing with her after all my mods. Some of the trails were tough and I realized how important it is to have a spotter. However, I want to be able to do it on my own.

I am thinking cameras by each wheel that feed into a tablet in the cab. I tried Amazon, but can't figure out the right words to use to search. Has anyone else gone with this set up? If so, what did you use?

    Thanks
    Chris

One thing you can do is a go-pro camera, which can live feed to a tablet.

I have a Hero 4 and a couple knock offs (which are great for the $), but i think they require wi-fi, which I can do as long as i have my phone as a hot spot and I have service. I was hoping for a hard wired option.

I am still interested in anyone who has a tried and true system. Based on the reviews, that is sketchy at best. I am hoping that out of all the members here, someone has installed to view through a tablet on a 4 runner.

I haven't, but I'm def subscribed. That's one thing most new off road vehicles are doing, where the 4runner is severely lacking...

    BTW beautiful rig!

Thanks. I have been searching Amazon and this one seems to get good reviews. Unless I find something better, I will order it in a week or so and install a couple weeks after that. In the mean time, if anyone has anything they like that they are using, please let me know.

I’m not sure this will apply to a 2020 model, but it works for my 2018.

Look into this. The Anytime Backup Camera and front camera.

Built by a guy on the other 4R forum, it enables the rear camera anytime (not just in reverse), and the full kit includes a front camera and switch and all the cabling. Which you also can enable anytime. It gives you a decent view of the front end depending how you position it. Good instructions too.

I’ve installed it and it works well. It helps when parking forward against a wall, and depending on how you aim it, crawling over obstacles.

That is actually what I was looking for. Thank you very much! Great idea.

It has been a year. Did you do this mod? Did you find something else? Curious because I have been looking for the same thing on my 4Runner but would love for it to plug into factory. Would like to have up to 4-5 more cameras (front bumper, side mirrors, rear underbody, front underbody)

Like mentioned, different cameras are available; hence, none of them will replace a spotter, not even close.
